Just a Fool
I argued up and down he was the undisputed #1. Subban was already better defensively than Markov ever was, and clutch in the playoffs to boot. He may never read the game at the level Markov reads it at, but his athleticism is OFF THE CHARTS.
This is a player that IMO can play well into his 40s. He is a pure beast.
What!? No dude.
Before Markov went through the back to back knee injuries, he was one of the top positional D-men in the League and a top PKer.
Very akin to Lidstrom in that regard.
Last season, he had trouble adjusting to his loss of speed and found himself out of position. He knew exactly where he needed to be but his body wouldn't let him be there like it would have previously.
So lets not get ahead of ourselves, PK has come a long way on the defensive side of the puck but he still has a tendency to run around too much and he is NOT on the level of a pre-2010 Markov defensively.
