This is fine but sports is very different than other work environments. You have to win in this business to matter and you have to have nerves of steel to deal with the insane pressure of rabid fans, especially in our market. Are you gonna tell us that Price was unaware of what he was getting himself involved in when he signed the largest deal in NHL history for a goalie in the most pressure cooker of hockey markets for goalies? The reason why someone like Price, who doesn't even have a university education, can get paid as much money as he does has a lot to do with his supposed ability to handle pressure better than most mortal humans on the planet.
The reality is that he wasn't good this past season, so what exactly does he expect? A tap on the back and thank you for trying? Sports is about winning, not about making anyone feel loved. This is why they get paid the big bucks, because they are amongst the world's very best (think 0.01%) at the job that they do.
It's frankly absurd to think that the highest paid athlete at his position needs to feel the love of his fans to perform at even a decent level.
