I'm an equal opportunity hater, you know that guy that shovels the ice where the....Hate him!;)

Speaking of people that shovel the ice during the breaks in the game I was at a leafs game in Toronto a few weeks back and was shocked at the crew they use for shoveling.....bunch of dudes in their 50's who look like they are on day parole......It has to be a union thing.

and dancing gabe too!

Dancing Gabe has been around for years. When was the last time the Bombers won a cup? The Jets? I think we can all see Gabe is the one who has been holding us back all this time. His moves are stale. I think even he knows it. The Coach shouldn't have been the one to take the fall, Gabe is clearly the common denominator.

As for Stacey, She's okay, but absence makes the heart grow fonder, and we'd probably appreciate her more if we replaced her with someone worse. She's steady and reliable, and for an anthem singer that's probably the best you can ask for.

Stacy does it Straight Up and really does have a nice voice.
Could you imagine having to listen to, and look at, that Boy Scout Leader in Ottawa all the time, seems a bit of a wierdo.
I do like the young Army Guy in Toronto

The snow shovelling crew in some rinks is far from hard on the eyes, think eye candy!;)

Yes LA and Chicago are two rinks with an apparent strategy appealing to men but Toronto was bizarre.....The crew puzzle men and I am sure women are mortified?

Yes!

Bikini-clad babes young enough to be my grand-daughters....and make sure they're not getting anything more than minimum wage...now THAT'S hockey!

I was thinking of this thread in the light of imagining the most negative imaginable person, and then trying to imagine what they could complain about.

Not that any of you are that, but, is there anything you look on positively in life?

Boggles my mind anyone cares about who or how the anthem is sung.

This is an opportunity to fire up the troops. Its simply not a 'spin the wheel', id actually prefer a male singer to get some testosterone in there. It legitimately had a psychological impact

I'm just happy she started enunciating properly:

IT'S "NATIVE" NOT "NAY-DIV", LADY!!! IF THAT AMERICAN GOT IT RIGHT WHY CAN'T YOU!?!?!?!!

Other than that she's fine. I'd be okay if they abandoned this tradition sports-wide.

LOL'd hard at that one! Well done! :handclap:

You guys need to relax with your opinions about everything. She sings the anthems, big deal! I think she happens to be good at what she does, better than the **** some American cities produce, and hasn't messed up the lyrics.

Keep at it Stacy!

For the record, I fought Mick E Moose last game in the upper deck, damn moose learned the hard way not to get in my way. Raise your hand if you've ever fought a team mascot! :yo: :p:

Jets need to bring in scantily clad women as their ice crew. NOW!

:yo: Turfed from the old barn with my friend during a Jets Bruins tilt for tossing a shoe on the ice (Shoebottom) and duking it out with Bennie right afterwards as my friend took exception to Bennie taunting him for his Bruins sweater and the shoe tossing. At that point the usher had had enough of us (I was much, much younger and prone to pre-gaming in those days) and had the monster bearded security guy "escort" us out.

Those of you old enough to remember those days should well remember that security guy - large, bearded, and kinda nasty.

And Stacy is a fine anthem singer - keeps it straight and simple, which I prefer as I sing along with Oh Canada.

I like the bagpipes as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure what they're doing at the Jets game. Who was sitting around a the TNSE pre-game show meeting and said, "you know what we need? MOAR BAGPIPEZ!" and everyone else around the table started high-fiving? If they had the dude playing Thunderstruck with the flaming pipes, I'd be on board. But having the piper play a bar of "Going Home" isn't really lighting the fire in my belly...
Bagpipes were used by the Scottish regiments to lead the troops. Troops would know what to do just by the tunes being played (march, retreat etc). Jets have a military connection so I can see the use of the piper, (leading the Jets into battle) The piper is not playing "Going Home" which is normally reserved for funerals etc, the piper is now playing Scotland the Brave which is far better than the piohbroch that he was playing for the first home games.

But just to be clear, he was playing Going Home when Claude was coaching?

As for Stacey, thought she did better last game. Obviously realizing no one is safe right now. Perhaps even a lurker in these parts. She focused and nailed the high notes of SSB. Tough task, especially auditioning for a new coach who is evidently a huge fan of the anthems.

Ah yes. That's the woman that was voted out of American Idol by catty female fans because she was 'too good looking'. That was my impression, anyways. Yeah, she has a great voice and is gorgeous. Sings in more of a 'pop' way though.
