f***ing Zdeno Chara is out there.
Swing for the fences.
I hope you're kidding that you'd prefer a 44 year old defenseman, but I know you're not. Wow.
f***ing Zdeno Chara is out there.
Swing for the fences.
Chars is going to want to play here, why? He doesn’t need the money, so you think he’d be interested in moving his family here to play on the 3rd pairing at minimum salary to mentor players? That’s a lot to assumeNo, I'm actually hoping they'll give us much more than Marc Staal gave us.
Who cares about "fitting" this locker room. The Red Wings should be trying to get people in who shake this locker room up.
Our .429 point percentage was the 2nd worst this team had since the 85-86 season.
We need Staal to preserve the locker room culture?
Come on.
f***ing Zdeno Chara is out there.
Swing for the fences.
Why would Chara sign with Detroit? How much do you think it would take to bring him to Detroit?f***ing Zdeno Chara is out there.

He wouldn't sign here, and to answer the $5 million question, yes.Why would Chara sign with Detroit? How much do you think it would take to bring him to Detroit?
If it took $5 million, would you complain that he's overpaid and it's a troubling "trend"?
MBH seems to be under the assumption that older players with families who no longer need the money would line up to take a pittance of money to play here. And not to play here to win a championship but to play on the 3rd pairing in a mentoring role, while moving their families here for that one year. While giving you the same production and chemistry that Marc Staal gave. That’s a lot to assume
Well played sir. Well played, indeed.Mark

They could just retire, in fact many of them just might, then what? It;s not a lot to assume.
You assume that magically - when the cap runs dry for the good teams - all the veteran NHLers looking for contracts are going to thumb their nose at Detroit and instead go to the American Hockey League or Europe.
that's a lot to assume.

Where do you think he signs?
Chara made $1.5M last year.
Maybe he takes that in Detroit. Maybe he's sweetalked into mentoring Seider.
Maybe $2M gets him to Detroit. But I take Chara at his age over Staal.
Maybe not.
But I'd give it a shot.
Defend Staal's $2M and NMC if you want.
But I don't think that was a reality-driven market-based decision.
It's strange that you guys are going balls to the wall to fight the obvious criticism here and drag this thing out.

Get out of here with your facts. The market gave Patrik Nemeth 3x2.25 or so.
The market is about to give Zach Hyman 6 million and 5 million to Blake Coleman.
Staal is too slow for the NHL.Where do you think he signs?

I'm throwing a f'ing party!Mark Staal had a solid season. I'm not sure why he wouldn't be worth 2 million. Its a fine contract. Nothing to celebrate and nothing to complain about.

Call it: "Best of" HFB HOF Archive.I wish we had a thread where we could post the best comments of the forum because damn dude.
You genuinely don't know anything about team sports and the dynamics of the room. Like at all. You make that abundantly clear the more you talk about it and the character of the players you covet.
And no, your weekends in rec league ball hockey are not the same, champ.

Haha! In anticipation of this, I"ve printed out the Entire Urban Dictionary & Thesaurus (all volumes) for Easy ReferenceWe need one stickied at the top of the forum.
Also when I next get bored at work I might make a thread that descibes the DRW board slang and acronyms, such as what going "full Bench" means, etc.
