Likely the difference between a W and a L
Yeah, they were in a tough spot given the roster they had - Swanson a questionmark since he's just coming back, Romano not able to go on back to back days yet, Green banged up, Garcia needing a day off because he's been carrying the pen with Swanson and Romano out.

I don't fault Schneider for the way he deployed the pen in this one. He did what he could with what he had. They just stupidly decided to keep a multi-inning guy over their second best high leverage option guy this year.

I disagree, Bringing in a guy off IR to close a game when he isn't a closer is asking for what happened.
Knowing the BP is short extend Richards to 2 IP when he only threw 14 pitches in his inning.

Bring Mayza in to close and have Swanson as his safety net.

A bunch of people wanted Cabrera sent down instead. He pitched 2 innings of 1 run ball. I don't think they would have been able to avoid using Mazya if they sent down Cabrera and kept Pearson instead. Francis was an option to demote but getting 4 innings out of the pen they had yesterday was going to be tough regardless

Mayza vs Judge was the biggest issue I had with the bullpen decisions. At that point just bring in Francis.

There was no reason too bring back Swanson & Romano at the same time, at the expense of Pearson who was throwing really well.

Neither of them were lighting it up in Buffalo. one could have stayed for a bit longer.

Bloody hell he's going to end up another Pearson isn't he
Skenes not making Pittsburgh is entirely about preventing him from hitting Super 2 status. It's purely a financial move and one the PA should be fighting tooth and nail since he deserved to make the team and has done nothing but reinforce that.

Interesting conversation the Yankees PBP guys were having during the Jays/Yanks game, without directly saying the Jays were stealing pitches, they accused the Jays of having someone at the park who is stealing pitches/location. the conversation was along the lines, the Jays are a different team here than they were in NY, they were fouling off a lot of pitches in Toronto that they were not fouling off in NY. If it was a month later they would understand the Jays adjusting but they adjusted a week after they last saw them.

Every team, and I mean every team, tries to steal pitches, tries to pick up on patterns and actively looks to see if the pitcher is tipping pitches. there are a lot of players who have pine tar too far up their bat, pitchers frequently looks for ways to doctor the ball, silent "cheating" is part of the game. It sounds a bit rich to accuse teams of something their team does on the regular...Yanks are one of the worse offenders.

Pitchers are such a crapshoot as prospects and young players, it really feels like it's fools gold drafting them. Better to just sign pitchers in FA that have finally realized their potential (e.g. Gausman, Bassitt, Kikuchi) or trade for them (e.g. Berrios) than to grasp to hope that prospects will ever make the rotation.

And you can just as easily spin that around and say the Yanks were stealing signs at home.

They faced Stroman and Gil back in NY, so it's not hard to fathom a team adjusting to a pitcher in the second meeting. They still struggled to get any contact against Gil when he wasn't walking people

Jays are also near the top in contact% while Rodon and Stroman are <50th percentile in Whiff%

Yanks are number one in contact%, so maybe they're the best at stealing signs!!

Why cry about sign stealing unless Jays were using technology? Sign stealing that involves the men in the dugout and on the field is fair game. Is there some guy in the stands? And like I mentioned above, what signs? Everybody is using pitchcom.

They are limiting him to 3 innings a start so that when they call him up they can use him as a starter and for the rest of the season
