Goat is just there basically, none of the other vets impressed. He goes on waivers when Nylander signs. If we need someone to actually play I think a younger guy jumps up. Think we'll go 3 goalies or 8 D, probably 8 D, but I haven't been impressed enough with Rosen this past week to go 8 D. Carrick over Holl but they've both been bad. I'd like to kepe Pickard but seems like the competeition was between the other 2, so both for now.

I'm not big on preseason. It's good for figuring out who has taken a step over the summer, but otherwise it's just liable to make you overreact to what happens in a few games. As such, I don't think there's anything that has changed really since before it started. Dermott had a pretty bad preseason for example, but I care much more for what he did over half a season than what happened in a few meaningless preseason games.

Agreed here. I do think Carrick is more valuable than Holl but if they can find trade value for Carrick to a rebuilding/retooling team, then I'm down for this lineup.

They might pre emptively waive Gauthier, Pickard and McBackup or Sparks and a couple others through the massive waive of cuts tomorrow so that they can perhaps try to squeak the players down. It's a lot easier than in a few weeks when teams might not be happy with their current depth or due to injuries.

Not really. Primary call up definitely though. He was good but not better than the forwards ahead of him + he's waiver exempt so that goes against him too. He reminds me of where Johnsson was at this time last season. If he can put up a strong, consistent regular season in the AHL, he may not be there for very long.

Dermott and Oz on bottom pair. Keep Holl and Carrick as your 7/8
