Right, and it's up to the state whether they charge it or not. FUTA (also paid by the employer) is the contribution to the federal unemployment tax. SUTA is a separate contribution to the state fund--state or local taxes were allowed.I had to look up SUTA. It doesn't appear on my electronic pay check. I guess only you employers have to pay it!
President Reagan used to say that the 9 scariest words in the English language are "We're from the government and we're here to help!".
Today my banker contacted me to tell me that they had changed the form (again) and he needed me to fill the new one out. It actually worked to our benefit monetarily so I was glad I spent the time recalculating. I had to use a different time span and was able to keep in certain amounts that previously had to be deducted out. Overall it was a difference of $5000, not bad for an hour's work. So this time I guess the government thought things through a little better and did actually help.
But it's probably a first!
