Their 0-6 loss against CAN speaks also a clear language, completely different story.

Seemed like a one-game initial blip for Latvia before they got going in this tournament, whereas for Slovakia, it looks like the entire tournament can be considered one huge blip. :D

Definitely not. We have won over LAT and it was good game. We were one shootout save from win over CAN, also very good game. CZE and SUI were loses after decent play, maybe except last period against SUI. Real blip was KAZ. This game seems like blip continues.

Slovakia is letting Slovenia control the play in the third. No urgency.

Someone had to have lead the Slovak league in scoring presumably, yeah? Watching this particular team, I’d think every game in that league was 0-0 and went to shootout. They just cannot generate offense.

Let's all take a breather and remember Latvia got outshot by Slovenia, at the end of the day. So all these "underserved" talks... If they beat Latvia in the standings they do deserve it.

That's Slovak national mentality. If we can just lay back and take it easy, we always do that.

Which is why we typically struggle against teams nominally weaker than us – this has been an issue for decades. We automatically expect wins against such opponents to fall freely into our laps, without having to work hard for it.

What a finish. Really feel bad for Slovenia, they didn't deserve to be relegated before even playing Kazakhs but oh well. Maybe it is for the best, Kazakhs have been pushing their hockey forward at all levels way harder.

Now it's exactly 50/50 between Slovakia and Latvia and I guess I'm going to the Switzerland game.

Well despite every other country beating Slovenia like a rented mule, Slovakia does just enough to squeak by in a game that they needed to get in regulation. So Slovakia's Quarterfinal bid stays alive while Slovenia clinches relegation and a spot in the lower division next year.

It all comes down to Tuesday, Slovakia must beat Norway in regulation and then hope that Latvia loses to Switzerland in regulation. Slovakia is going to need to find a way to get some offense. Norway has been very stingy this tournament, as they've only allowed 11 goals in 5 games thus far (granted they still have to play Canada who presumably should light the lamp up a bit). Norway will just be paying for pride, as fortunately for Slovakia, they know they will not be getting relegated so they don't have much incentive to go all out.

Odds on Slovakia scoring a victory against Norway: 1,26
Odds on Latvia scoring a point against Switzerland: 2,45

50/50 :) The man is a genius of creative accounting.

there are world ranking points at stake, which are important for Olympic qualification. They will be playing for that at least.

Seriously, guy. There's only two conditionals now. It's really not that hard, a 10 year old could get it.

We don't have to score a point against Switzerland. We have to score a point against Switzerland only if Slovakia defeats Norway in regulation. The likelihood of Latvia making the quarters is the COMBINED probability of Latvia scoring a point and/OR Norway scoring a point. Which amounts to roughly 50%.
