Like I mentioned before the game, if they want to sit him when we have a series lead, it makes some sense unless he just feels pretty good to go. It'll be tough not getting the matchups on the road but I guess matchups matter less if you just play the best guys 27 minutes.

It'll be tough any game he misses but this is still a really good team even when he doesn't play.

Skjei is a hoss and Pesce always ups his game when he is asked to take on more ice time. I think/hope we can patchwork it and keep him out until the next series. Granted, Nashville could totally turn things around at home and I'm not discounting them at all. But if we can't beat Nashville without Slavin, then we're not going to beat Tampa with or without him anyway.

IMO the smart play here is to try and survive the next 2 games without using Slavin. If we win at least one of them, meaning at least a 3-1 series lead, let him sit till the following series. They showed last night they don’t need Slavin right now, they just need to be a little smarter about penalties. A healthier Slavin in the second round is worth more to us than a slightly shorter first round.

If we come back tied 2-2, then bring him back into the lineup to change the dynamic.

My concern is that he has something he needs surgery for and rest isn’t going to do shit. Brind’amour said it was something he’d have to deal with all through the playoffs

It sounds like that's the case. The games-off are still valuable for the sake of risk management, keeping him from exacerbating the issue.

I think of what happened to Karlsson's career trajectory after he played through hairline fractures in his heel for the sake of a playoff run. That type of injury could very well be what Slavin's dealing with.
