We have enough bottom six players, he’s one of many that’ll be lost in the shuffleReally odd that Ottawa couldn't find a way to keep him.

Define best D is the league for me?Getting the best offensive D in the league is worth it. Knowing the pick is 3rd overall, yes there’s more of a hesitation but the trade originally was so lopsided for the Sharks.
Good player but couldn't crack the lineup with all of the other youngsters pushing for a spot.Really odd that Ottawa couldn't find a way to keep him.
When he's not injured or recovering from an injury, he has been one of the best offensive dmen in the league. Hopefully he's had a chance to fully heal and can get back up there.Define best D is the league for me?
For those interested, this cost San Jose $56,250, paid to Ottawa and not counted against the cap.
Offensive dman I completely agree. Overall Dman not even close. If this was 2017 sure but not in 2021.When he's not injured or recovering from an injury, he has been one of the best offensive dmen in the league. Hopefully he's had a chance to fully heal and can get back up there.

Yessir, have been for a couple of yearsYou do this for every claim?
We will see. It really depends on if the Sharks are okay running 3 guys with very little NHL experience on the third line. Our top 2 LWs are Kane and Timo. On the right we have Labanc/Leonard/Donato who all fit their lines really well. Currently we have Nieto as the 3rd line LW with Gregor and Donato. I think Balcers could fit well there but it will be interesting if the coaching staff is okay with Donato being the vet on the 3rd line or not.Stutzle basically stole the available LW spot from him, and it doesn’t help that he doesn’t really play a bottom six kind of game. He should have more of an opportunity to prove himself in the NHL with the Sharks.

Why? You guys brought it up.Let's not go there
Lol. You don’t make that trade and expect to be a lottery team, especially after just making the wcf.Lol no they wouldn't. Knowing they gave up Stuetzle any sane Sharks fans would not do that trade.

Slowly undoing the trade. Only a matter of time before they land the German guy
What does Burns have to do with EK? Without EK behind Burns the best offensive D the Sharks have/had in the past few years is Tim freaking Heed. There’s a world where trades don’t have to have a winner or a loser. Norris is great now but I don’t think he would have been given the same chance in SJ. Tierney would never have been more than a 3C (and a 4C up until this season). Demelo was a bottom pairing D that was scratched and flawed with us and again wouldn’t have gotten the same chance in SJ. Stuetzle is fantastic and is a great get for OTT but he’s still a mystery box while the Sharks were all in and they couldn’t wait for him to be better. EK also allows us to insulate our top prospect (Merkley) and allowed us to take a chance on a guy (Merkley) that talent wise was top 5 in the draft. This trade now looks much more even.
