You can stash players in the minors and it reduces their cap hit by somewhere between $900k and $1M.

To expand on this: Loaning a player to another professional league (AHL included) who is on a one-way NHL contract, their cap hit is their AAV minus ($375k + minimum NHL salary, which is $650k this year). So it would be their AAV minus $1.025M this year. The same applies to Matt Moulson, btw.

If that's the case, then we can pretty easily loan him anywhere right? Doesn't have to be Rochester, he could go play in Europe if it's not going to work out to a roster spot for him out of camp. Seems very flexible for a cap dump, which is perfect for us.

Great deal by Botts. Can play anywhere on the left side in the line up and gives us good NHL depth. Because we're low in contracts and cap, we can take guys like Hunwick to better our value. Curious to see if we see this as a trend for the next year or two.

Can't wait to see us once the conglomerate of overpaid players is far gone in the next 2 years (Moulson, Bogosian, Pominville, etc.)
