Im big fan of Donskoi. Shootout specialist, great vision, real playmaker, impressive in both ends can play both wings and really shows up on powerplay. Quige same of type like Mikael Granlund without his streght. I was hoping Blues could get him. Joonas is really steal, low-risk high-reward. Damn it.

I think Mikael has better hockey IQ and vision. Donskoi is still no slouch, either; he's dynamic, has got very good pair of hands, can score or pass. And he's faster and more agile skater than Granlund.
He reminds me of Goldobin (whom I watched last season in HIFK). At very least the both will super fun and entertaining to watch for Sharks fans  And both will be money on penalty shots.

I'm very excited about this because Donskoi was really good in the Finnish elite league this season. I wouldn't even be surprised if he would get some minutes in the NHL next season with some time to adjust to north-American hockey style in AHL.

I also love his skill set because he doesn't have any major weaknesses and he is good in so many things. I think he could be perfect match in our 3rd line with Tierney and Nieto. And in case of injury to our top 6 he could jump there and have good chance to succeed. Next season might come too early but 16-17 I would think he would be ready.

Now just sign him please.

3rd line of Karlsson - Tierney - Donskoi would be awesome! Skill smarts and lots of hustle.
4th line of Torres - Tommy - Ben Smith

Finnish names are always said exactly as it's written. Donskoi.

I'll correct that statement - in Finnish there's only one pronounciation per letter. In English it's a different story. For example, pronounciation of the word "man" compared to "car" - the "a" is pronounced in two different ways.

OT but yeah.

So all the "o" sounds are the long "o" like in phone or home, right? Does the double "o" in his first name make a difference?

Yea, if we sign an undrafted guy and he ends up with over 700 pts like Ribiero, I'd be pretty pleased about it.

He was drafted by Panthers in 4th round 2010.

Did something change his status? Haven't seen any indication his signing isn't real. We're just still waiting for official confirmation.

His agent has said that the deal has been made. Didn't say anything about the team, tho.

It's just a little bit longer "o" :)

But I'm sure that he don't mind people calling him "Jonas". It's still basically the same name

The "o" in Finnish is never ever pronounced like in phone or home. It's pronounced like in shop or stop. And if there's "o" twice, you pronounce it twice. Joonas = you shop shop net cup sit

Here is how to pronounce Joonas Donskoi and some other names of Finnish ice hockey players:
