I'm something of a generalist but do too much litigation. My wife is a divorce lawyer. Yes, we are something like a bad tv show. The kids have been pretty great to us (everyone should genuinely believe their kids are great). The two older ones are computer kids and would rather face a firing squad than anything lawyer like. We will see with the younger one, he's just heading to college this fall.

Toffoli is an extremely high value contract. The expectation is to be on top of the division, but if it doesn't work out, high value contracts like Toffoli and Haula can be flipped to high draft picks at the TDL. Not only is it good contract on paper, that is also hedging and risk management.

Really pumped about Toffoli. He has played througout his career in lines with 60-80 goals% which is ultra rare. Hopefully he gets a healthy start and finds similar chemistries here.

With the amount of amazing contracts we have locked up, I say give it some time, you don't have to wait until next offseason, but still. Not having any or at least minimal regrettable contracts on the books is going to be what keeps this team amazing for years to come. Plus we can't keep punting the Mercer contract down the road anymore as a "problem years away lol."

Not having any or at least minimal regrettable contracts on the books is going to be what keeps this team amazing for years to come. Plus we can't keep punting the Mercer contract down the road anymore as a "problem years away lol."

There is virtually no universe where I'm extending Toffoli. Palat has already taken the spot for aging overpaid veteran. As you've noted, another high salary slot needs to be taken up by Mercer and the cap is only going up by so much next season. Even at a $4 mil increase of cap there isn't really room for anyone else pricey absent restructuring the roster a bit more.
