He is good at shootouts. So what?

I mean who gives a **** about shootout stats?

It's nice to have at least one or two guys on the roster who can score in the shootouts/ are semi-reliable in that context.

I hate the shootout too, but as long as actual points in the standings are awarded based on an individual skill competition, it's worthwhile to have a few of those specialists on board. It can be the difference between playing playoff hockey and watching it in the golf course clubhouse.

For further information, see: Devils, New Jersey.

Of course, all that aside, Silf has been SUPREMELY disappointing in Anaheim in my eyes, at least as far as the expectations I had for him are concerned. Dude had a spot on a line with Getzlaf and Perry pretty much handed to him on a silver platter, and he somehow found a way to play himself off of that line. Heck, you could even go so far to say that Anaheim's acquisition of Sekac from the Habs is entirely due to Silf's failures to stick in a top-6 role there.

I don't think he has been SUPREMELY disappointing, Ducks fans love him and are mad at the coach for not giving him PP time. We all know Silfverberg can't bloom offensively 5 on 5 I don't have facts with me but from what I heard he is something like top 5 in powerplay goals for Anaheim but 16th in powerplay time per game. Most of this is blamed on the coach overusing Silf on a shutdown role 5v5 and using him on the first penalty kill unit that he can't really play him on the powerplay, Silf was thrown into a shutdown role since he got there. He is my favourite player so I try to watch ducks games a lot and I see just that he's not thrown into positions to strive offensively, im sure you probably watch West Coast games a lot due to your time zone.

Silf deserves some credit. Guy went from the 13th highest scoring forward on the Ducks last year :)laugh:) to the 6th highest scoring forward so far this year.

However he's still on pace for the same mediocre point totals as last year. Under 15 goals and 35 points playing under an offensive coach in Bruce Boudreau is pretty bad.

Safe to say Murray made the right decision trading him when he did. Doesn't look like he'll come close to meeting the insane expectations placed upon him by this fanbase.

Fuuuuuuuuu this 4-day long break is so annoying. It's not like the Sens had games in hand on everyone else too. Such crap scheduling once again.

I hope these 3 games coming up don't turn into a blood bath for the Sens.

I am fine with losing, but i just hope that the Sens don't get blown out.

I want to at least enjoy watching the game.

Yup... hes 15th in 5v4 time on ice per 60.
7th in pp goal. 8th in pp points

per 60 he probably has good pp production

Prediction: Hammon experiences a rough night. It's going to be a tough road trip with the team picking up no more than 3 points. Sens never do well on western road trips.

I think I just had high expectations for him, and I don't think he's progressed nearly as well as I thought he would.

I was as high on anyone when it came to Silfverberg but cooled extremely fast on him for one major reason. He has one of the greatest shots I've ever seen, but he lacked either the hockey sense, or skating ability, to get himself into space to use it. In the SEL and international rinks, all the extra ice allowed him to do that. In the NHL, I could tell early he was always going to struggle to get into open areas to release his shot.

He could easily carve a niche for himself as a PP specialist though. Dat shot is hot.
