Hahha! Are you kidding me Borowieki...what a beaut so far...minus the own-goal, this is a stand-up guy...literally, he'll stand you up at the blue line

Good to see that the clown that said Boro was a mix of the bad parts of Cowen and Gryba was dead wrong.

Boro is having success because he knows his role.

I think it's time to give Hoffman a shot with the big team.

I thought the Sens were pretty terrible for most of the game. Good PK and I thought Grant was strong. He looks like he is figuring out that he can play at this level.

They came out well but that goal due to EK was deflating.

Nice to see the team convert on a 5 on 3, while preventing the opposition from doing the same.

Held the lead. Lehner was strong down the stretch.

I think Thomas was pretty good after those first two goals - on another goalie we may have stretched the lead further.

Zack Smith had a golden chance to salt the game away.

Thought the team skated well this game, a few of the guys like Spezza, Zibad, Grant, and Wiercioch were moving as well as we've seen them so far this season. Turris line continue to dominate. MM and Greening continue to suck, don't know what is wrong with them, in a funk for sure. Simmer said on the radio Spezza did not look right, I don't see it, he seems be to be better than he was last week if you ask me.

Still need to find a long term solution for a solid right side defenseman, Corvo and Gryba both cannot be trusted by coaching staff right now, Methot on right side is only temporary. Need long term help on that part.

- Michalek: I think the effort is there, but the speed isn't anymore. It's just sad to see.

- Phillips and Neil: we love our veteran players, but the coach makes them look bad by playing them so often. Conversely, there are players who could benefit from more ice time. Don't they say a good coach should put you in a position to succeed? He's not doing that with Phillips, Neil, Conacher, Ziba, Corvo and other players before them.

I think its time to cut a passenger and bring up a guy like Hoffman who is tearing it up in Bingo and has been close to making the jump for a while.

What is Greening for example, doing to justify a spot ahead of Hoffman.

I'd say the same for Michalek but I don't see any way he gets demoted or scratched.

We know man. We got it the first 500 times or so you said it.

Condra has internal value as a PK specialist and high hockey IQ. He isn't worth much overall to the rest of the league. Conacher I would think could bring more value, but we're still in the low-value ballpark with both of them. The return for moving them is minimal unless they are part of a package.

Gryba is redundant with the emergence of Boro. If Boro keeps it up, we will have no use for Gryba, who has become soft since the MTL incident.

I'd rather the bottom 2 D be Boro and Corvo out of the 4 marginal players (Boro, Corvo, Weir and Gryba). We really need a #3/4 D.

Is anyone else kinda impressed with Spezza's PKing lately?

He actually has been getting better defensively every game IMO. It's especially noticeable on the PK though...lots of effort and composure.

You could really tell Spezza was trying to feed Greening for an empty net goal. Man, Greening needs help.

Like a good Captain. Unfortunately I think Greening might be beyond help right now. Something has got to give there. Would much rather see Hoffman up there right now guy is on fire and has speed to burn.

If Boro was a RD, Gryba would be gone. As is, I can see Gryba staying with the club until we are sure that we can make it work with someone playing on their off side.

A second pairing puck mover, and Michalek magically getting his speed back, and this team is laughing.

I wonder if Timonen might be expendable in Philadelphia? He could fill that experienced puck-mover role that Gonchar played.

Aside from the games vs. Western teams, Sens haven't lost in regulation against an Eastern Conf. team yet. With a record of 6-0-2.

Ugly win but we've had some pretty losses and I much prefer the former.

My thoughts as well

5 games without losing (I don't consider SOL a game lost, but an extra point missed) :handclap:

Holding leads in a good sign for this team.

Yep, finally, happened for a few games now. We lost several points at the beginning because we blew up leads.

I also find that the face-offs % has greatly improved. And outside of the 3rd against the Panthers (well, some calls might be a bit soft), discipline has improved a bit lately too.

Gotta still work out on positioning and transitioning now

Is that really our record VS the East??

Who would have thunk it!? That's actually a bit encouraging.

That said, we won't do much in the long run if we can't also beat Western conference teams.

I wouldn't mind a SCF loss. :sarcasm:

We seem to play to our copetition. Play well enough to keep it close with great teams, and play bad enough to grind out wins against lesser teams.

Very true.

Yup, the team is lacking confidence and is playing the opposition. Fortunately, they have enough skill to beat them at their game.

Down the stretch, nobody will be complaining about how they got these points.

The Sens kept a team to under 30 shots. Enjoy it, at least for a second. Allow yourself this.

Also, may have been overlooked, but Phillips made a nice play to contribute to our second goal. Broke up the Panther's rush with a nice pinch at center ice, poking the puck forward and allowing us to quickly put pressure back in the Panthers end.

What are you saying? Phillips sucks. (sorry gotta be popular on HF!)

This game was not as bad as people are making it out to be too be honest.

Doesn't seem to be

Unfortunately, felt asleep and could only watch the 2nd and 3rd. Sens played very well in the 2nd and the Panthers ran away with momentum in the 3rd when the penalty parade begun. 4 penalties in 11 minutes does that. We survived though so I guess they played well enough in the first 2.

Good to note that the team is really turning it around in the face off department. I think we've won the face off battle 5 games in a row or more. We started out at around 23rd overall after 6 games and now we're up to 15th and a 50.1% win rate. Turris is still somewhat struggling but his numbers are a far cry from the 40% he had early. Derek Grant has been a big addition in that department (swap Pageau's 30% for Grant's 57% + lefty - righty)

I love watching Tim Thomas.

The Sens won a game against an opponent from their division.

Games against opponents from their division are extremely important due to how tight the wild card race might be.

I hope for prosperity and success for the team of Ottawa Senators.

Someone was wrong on HFsens? You don't say!

Boro has been solid(keeping it simple) no doubt. He needs to quit the fighting. He's had fight concussions before and needs to be tough without always dropping the gloves. Unfortunately he is also a hitter which leads to getting jumped. This all being said he is looking like he belongs in the bigs. With 8 D Corvo is likely to see very little time and I think that they should try and move him unless they are planning on moving Wiercioch or Gryba).

A lot of people wrote off Boro after his six games last season.

Is Grant the next Cris Kelly?

Needs to show more offensively. People tend to forget that Kelly was a regular 30 point guy and even had a couple 40 point seasons.

O would like to bring up the Hoff next. Try him with Spezza.

Definitely. That's a guy who has huge confidence in his shooting right now and can skate like the wind and play both wings. I think he'll get the call soon. Ottawa rewards the Bingo boys for great play and we know they like Hoffman. Even if he's not a long term solution, he's on fire and might be able to contribute right now.

To take it a bit further, MAYBE try MacArthur with Spezza and put Hoff with Ryan and Turris for a game or two? Mac IMO would work well with 19 and Hoff showed some chemistry with Turris last year when they were the top line with Alfie. I think his style would work well with 7 and 6. Mac could be the first guy in on the forecheck for Spezza like he often is with Turris.
