I actually really like this move. These are the type of young guys the sens should be trying to pick up when possible to keep the team younger but having some NHL experience.

Other players like this I keep an eye on are Gauthier NYR, MacEwen VAN, Roy VGK, Bastian NJD. Most would be low cost acquisitions.

I'd rather watch those guys with our young guys than watch Dadonov and Anisimov try to fit.

Good trade for both teams.

Amadio could be a decent 4th liner for us. Outside chance at ending up a 3rd line guy.

Judging by his highlight reel, he looks like, at best , Chris Tierney with a better shot

When reilly did play at the start of the year he was just as bad if not worse than wolanin. It was a nightmare. Out of reilly brann and Wolanin I think all could have games like reilly has had if played into the ground.

It wasn’t an argument? Oh you think the argument was Belleville *literally* has no Defesneman.?

As nightmarish as you may say, it was better than Wolanin. His play improved after the start as well. Wolanin's didn't. It's not because Reilly was handed something Wolanin wasn't.

I know you weren't saying they literally had no defensemen, I'm saying they literally had no forwards for a game.

Yes! Very happy with this. Pretty good reclamation project for LA IMO, maybe Wolanin will be a good fit for them

Jut want to warn people, Amadio is like a poor man's Chris Tierney

But all good anyway, we need another high pick more than anything

Amadio is RFA, makes me nervous if he "gels" with the team and they re-sign him.

Well here it is folks, finally getting the franchise centre we've all been arguing about. We can put the Monahan/Eichel trade proposals to rest now.

But tbh not sure why we made this trade, Wolanin has more value to us. Whatever I guess

Maybe because we're not that good at identifying talent?

Very whatever. Not sure what reilly did at the start of the year/camp to be preferred over wolanin. I think Wolanin would have had just as many decent games if you played the shit out of him Like they did Reilly. Oh well

Don't think I ever saw a D-man struggle as much as Reilly did early in the season. That game where he was directly responsible for 3 GA was for the ages

But good for him as he setlled down. Probably means we're going to re-sign him though, which also makes me nervous

My guess is that Amadio gets a chance to step into Watson's spot, as he's done for the season. Maybe he'll get an audition for the 4th line center spot this year or next.

Wolanin's play during the first 10 games was the worst of any defenseman who has played on the team this year. Nobody else ran around like an idiot the way that he did during that span.

Gotta say, aside from his game play, Wolanin has one of the best personalities I’ve seen as a fan. Watched him almost every home game with the BSens and he consistently acknowledged the kids and chatted with them every game. One particular fan loved Wolanin, and Wolanin always made a point of making that fan’s day and giving him extra attention. They’d chat almost every game day, including during warmups. The fan would be near the gate at the BSens tunnel and Wolanin would skate over to the fan when he came for a drink at the bench. Just a genuinely good guy with a positive attitude all the time. I wish him nothing but the best in LA and for his future.

If we had to trade Wolanin, I would've rather have gotten a draft pick. We have too many bottom 6 guys as it is.

Good for Wolanin though....he wasn't going to get a chance to improve sitting in the pressbox.

No. Straight up, Wolanin was only damned fool who was chasing the puck around the defensive zone like he was playing pond hockey.

The opposition has gained position in the offensive zone. Wolanin is defending the right point. Puck sent to the corner boards. Wolanin is digging along the right corner boards. Puck sent behind the net. Wolanin skates towards the left corner swinging his stick to both sides. Puck passed back to the point. Wolanin chases and starts defending the point.

The last time I saw a defensemen play like that for an extended period of time was Joe Corvo's first month in Ottawa.

Other than Chabot every D man drafted and coached prior to the Mann brothers has been purged from the organization.

Wolanin is an interesting case study of the dynamics of this board

A guy that hadn't established himself as a NHL regular coming off major injury that caused him to miss a year being pencilled into a lineup in many instances in a top 4 position. Maybe my memory might be a bit off but i think i might have seen some posts pegging him as our 2nd best D.

That thinking was faulty. Full stop.

Watching this year play out, Wolanin wasn't good enough at what he was good at to make up for what he wasn't good at. At 26 years old, DJ said he couldn't stop the cycle, that's not good.

The play a couple of games ago where he flubbed the pass to Dzingle between the red line and the O zone blue line may well have cost him his spot. That was a bad mental mistake for a puck rushing D man to make

I hope things work out for him in LA. I really do. If not, he's probably destined for Europe to make a few hundred grand playing a kids game. Life could be worse
