Is he worth 2.5M in value?
Purely in terms of points he's on par with other 2.5 mil players that were signed off UFA (not counting RFAs that are exceeding potential on bridge contracts like Bjorgstrand who's clearly a prospect that's going to get paid 5mil per on his next RFA contract - actually just saw he actually IS signed for 5.4 mil next year).

Comparisons:
Stephenson 20 pts in 31 games at 2.75 mil signed as an RFA at 25 yo
Vatrano 18 pts in 38 games signed as an RFA at 24 yo
Armia 10 pts in 24 games
Panik 9 pts in 35 games at 2.75 mil
Comeau 9 pts in 30 games
Bennett 8 pts in 35 games signed as an RFA
Riley Nash 7 pts in 36 game at 2.75 mil
Weise 5 pts in 23 games
Hunwick out of the league
Dorsett out of the league

And the Watson that's been under performing 2.5 mil but actually signed at 1.5 mil anchoring the team for 2 more years on top?
Watson 10 pts in 34 games.

He's actually playing like a bunch of PK specialists or run of the mill "consistent two-way with little upside" guys, while some over paid washed up/marginal NHLers are actually paid double him in the Hunwick, Dorsett mould.

48 years ago Ottawa had Mike Amodeo. Now we have Mike Amadio.

I haven't looked forward to watching a player this much since DiDominico. Boucher sold him as a play maker .. and I wanted to see those plays

On his first impressions of the LA Kings organization thus far
I think before I say anything about the Kings, I want to imply that or say that anything I say has nothing to do with my time in Ottawa. But when I came here, this is kind of what the NHL dream has always been like in my mind prior to getting here…then to come here and just have a coach like Todd, who you don’t really hear his voice often in terms of them yelling and kind of getting on you. But you know, when he wants to talk, and you know when he wants your attention. This is a first-class organization. You can kind of tell right from the moment I walked in through these doors.

It appears Wolanin is not too big a fan of the org or DJ based on his comments, although he prefaced them with it being nothing against Ottawa.

Then why say what you just said? Who cares anyway, he probably won't even be there next year.

Bit of a nothing burger lol. Just sounds like 2 different kinds of coaches.

Because I think noting that your new coach doesn’t yell at you, and that this organization is what you expected going to the NHL clearly means something, despite how you preface it.

I thought it was interesting so I shared it, whether he’s there next year or not is irrelevant.

Doesn't sound like his new coach is that interested ... sounds like Wolanin is the type that prefers less help than more help.

Could also be referring to the facilities and amenities as far as the first class comment goes. I would assume those would be of a much more premium variety in LA than in Ottawa.

DJ Smith is also a player's coach through and through...

It is very possible for DJ to be a players coach and for Wolanin not to be a fan!

How he feels about DJ, I do not know - just think maybe he wasn’t for him based on his remarks and that’s okay. I like DJ and think he’s doing a great job!

Players tend to play hard for DJ but it's pretty clear that he has his favourites and also guys that he's harder on. Wolanin was not a favourite (justified or not).

Not sure what is the definition of a players' coach but no coach is going to please everybody, not if they want results.

The Town Fun Forgot
I like the Amadio acquisition on paper. A 24 year old with good size and strong numbers, in Junior and the AHL, for a guy that wasn't going to play here. Unfortunately on the ice I haven't seen much to get excited about. Makes me wonder how closely our pro scouts looked at this guy.
