Not really sure what use rnh has for this team other than his zombie identity. He's not a play-off player.
I don't know anything about his personal life and shouldn't make assumptions. I just get the sense that he seems more invested in having fun than working hard over the offseason. Apologies to his GF and hopefully she's supportive of his career.
Yes, I think everyone is starting to realize this. Two years in a row, the Oilers were partly undone (in rounds three and two, respectively) by accumulated injuries.Hopefully next year the coach will stop running McDrai 25+ mins a night for 3/4 of regular season games. Roll the lines and establish some chemistry with the bottom 6'ers and it will pay off in the playoffs when guys start to get fatigued.
Wasn't Nuge just fine last playoffs? I'm not sure what happened with him, if he was injured or just lost confidence when he had that goose egg, but I still think he is great value overall for us.Not really sure what use rnh has for this team other than his zombie identity. He's not a play-off player.
With the amount of cap space we have it is impossible to find a true top 6 winger...You’d think if we get Yamo out of the picture it would be easy to find a cheaper option for 2nd line RW.
If someone wants to prove themself come spend a season on Leon Draisaitls line.
You can trade Yamamoto, Desharnais and a draft pick for an upgrade. You can trade Ceci, Foegele and Bourgault for an upgrade. You can trade Kostin, Lavoie and Tullio for an upgrade. You can trade Holloway and Skinner for an upgrade. You can trade Broberg, and a first rounder for an upgrade. With the amount of cap space we have it is impossible to find a true top 6 winger...
what we will get is a bottom 6 winger that will join our top 6
best case is a guy that will complement our top 6 in a way that adds some value... in my view best would be a guy that is a solid skater, at or above 6ft and is not afraid to play a physical game and could score around 20 goals.
In my view, we have an internal solution with Kostin... but I know that I am much more upbeat about him than most. I just think that give him some time on the off-wing and I am sure he can help... he is a great skater for his size, physical presence and has a great wrister...
he didn't get much ice time this season but I hope Woodie will give him more opportunity after his apprentice year with the Oilers.
I agree with everything except your last paragraph about Bouchard. He is the perfect fit on the powerplay... he has good vision and a great shot... and his overall play should further improve. You can trade Yamamoto, Desharnais and a draft pick for an upgrade. If you need cap space add a pick and a prospect in any anticipated transaction, find a team willing to accomodate retention or taking on a large contract, and then the team will have have cap space. Great teams find a way.
We could trade Nurse. The idea that he can't be traded is ridiculous as Woodcroft's man on man defensive zone coverage that even Ekholm can't play.
Nobody can play that backwards ass system and expect to win the big games.
The amount of moves that could be made are staggering. All you need is a bold GM conductive to making good trades and a team identity geared to winning Stanley Cups. We have neither.
Our big trade chip is Bouchard. I know that's a kick in the nuts for some but I see this move as the club's salvation.
Yes, Bouchard, a power play specialist that will rake in a return that far outweighs his value to the Edmonton Oilers who already have many power play specialists.I agree with everything except your last paragraph about Bouchard. He is the perfect fit on the powerplay... he has good vision and a great shot... and his overall play should further improve.
we better see what Broberg could fetch in a trade... Kulak is great to anchor a 3rd pair and I don't see Broberg overtaking him... I also don't think that Woodie wants to play him on the right side as a lefty... It's unfortunate but he is a chip we can use to maybe upgrade on the right side... on defense or upfront.
I would keep Holloway... he should contribute more next season and is on a cheap contract...
not sure about Lavoie... if mgt thinks he is still not ready we trade him if it helps now.
This Coach Chippy kid is funnier than hell.
The unfortunate part is that people point to +/- as drai being bad in the last 4 games but when you have stats like this it highlights the scoring struggle.More data on performance by Oilers in the playoffs.
And it's hilarious to me how hard the Oiler haters will work to not acknowledge this point. The unfortunate part is that people point to +/- as drai being bad in the last 4 games but when you have stats like this it highlights the scoring struggle.
It takes someone 50 major contributions to score 5 points but the other team scores 7 points off of your 14 major mistakes, youre not winning. Makes it impossible to break even. I get that team defense plays a part but it seems almost inexplicable how often we dominate and get nothing only to see the other team do a quarter of what we do and score every second shot.
I'm not excusing the play because there were major defensive failures and effort issues but it irritates me that it seems the Oilers have to work 3x harder than their opponent to win games. We have no ability to make our own luck. Vegas played well enough but the amount of bounces they got were pretty sickening.
Trade all futures and then have nothing to fill out the roster on cheap ELCs. And you seam to think the cap manages itself. Where do the Oilers find all this cap room? The Oilers just need to add a piece or two, not a complete re tool. You can trade Yamamoto, Desharnais and a draft pick for an upgrade. You can trade Ceci, Foegele and Bourgault for an upgrade. Yes for the right pieces trade a first round pick, but we just moved two for Ekholm. Bouchard can not be moved with out bringing in another defensman to be on the first unit pp. Cause if not then Nurse and Ekholm have to take those minutes and PP2 Should have 2D on it.
Yes I did, not saying Woodcroft didn’t make mistakes. But, your arguements just seam like your more looking for some one to blame, rather then looking at the bigger picture that the team and its personnel had faults that were not good enough to win. Winning the cup isn’t easy, McKinnon finally won last year and then lost in the first round. The Leafs really need no explanation. Finishing off the Kings and Games 2 and 4 against Vegas shows what this team can do, Woodcroft was the coach for those games too. The same for last year beating the King and the Flames. You didn't even read the post, did you?
This Coach Chippy kid is funnier than hell.
Was very similar to Foegele's high stick in game five, and the shop and change direction "follow through" earlier in the series was ridiculous. The amount of people that were calling that a follow thru and good non call was comical. Then to see his eye the day after Embarrassing
Out of curiosity, do you think Evan Bouchard is a playoff player? Not really sure what use rnh has for this team other than his zombie identity. He's not a play-off player.
Too early to tell.Out of curiosity, do you think Evan Bouchard is a playoff player?
Would you trade Bouchard for the right price?
We're talking about a guy who has 39 points in 49 playoff games...Not really sure what use rnh has for this team other than his zombie identity. He's not a play-off player.
that's a hell of a thingToo early to tell.
Rnh should be by now, but...
I'll leave it for the split personality cat to figure out now.
