Maybe my memory has defied me this time, but I swear those guys clashed all the time. This I'm not as sure about, but I swear I heard something once about Larry putting in a bad word about Gomez to Montreal's front office. Larry, and Gomez had some problems both times he coached the Devils I do remember this. Not Tremblay/Roy level or anything, but they didn't have the best relationship.

Oh yea, people love overrated Tedenby. im saying gomer out scores him. . .
I don't think anybody overrates Tedenby. At least not anymore. I remember a year ago when I was slagging him people were giving me hell for it. Now I notice many others slagging him as well, but maybe not as much as me.

I think you're going to be wrong about Tedenby in the long run. He might not be a superstar, and he might not find full success in NJ, but he is and will be a productive NHL player.

I think a lot of us have come to the conclusion (Even his supporters) that he needs to be scoring. He can't only score 5 goals a season, or 10 unless he's putting up a lot of points through assists. And yes I understand he can't do that with just 8 minutes a game.

Well... let's cross that bridge when we get there. Only 2 games in and he has as many points as Elias.

Only 3 guys in the lineup have put the puck in the net, 1 of those on a penalty shot.

So, let's give it a few games before we jump to conclusions about his production, or lack thereof.
It's his last shot, I'm ready to see what he's going to do with it.

I don't understand this whole "HE HAS TO SCORE" mentality. I don't give a **** if he scores or not. I want him to contribute to wins. If he can do that, he can stay on this team. If that means scoring 40 points, great. If that means going out there 5 minute to generate a spark, that's fine. If he's out there to draw penalties, fine. If he's a shootout specialist, that works too. If he is one of the 20 players in this organization that best contributes to success, I don't care how it's done. Just do it.

That and Elias has failed to score on the 3-4 perfect set ups Teds has given him.

I don't know how he's supposed to be in the top 6 without generating points. If he's not putting up points then why should he be in the top 6? Why not put him on the third line then? A lot of people have this mentality that he HAS to be on the second line or he's useless. So I'm saying if he's on the second line he needs to be scoring.

What guys in the top 6 did we have last year that weren't racking up points? Zubrus? He brings other things that Tedenby does not.

1 point in 2 games isn't bad. Keep it up. I'm not talking about what he has or hasn't done this season, but it's like Manilla said. This is his last chance. A lot of people (I never said this either) say if he's not in the top 6 he shouldn't be playing. So if he can't put up points why can't he play on the third line? If he's only gonna go out for 5 minutes to provide a spark, does that mean playing him on the fourth line? When I say generate points I don't mean lead the league. He should be able to put up 40 points in an 82 game season if he's gonna be in the top 6. I'm talking in the future. I'm not judging him on this season, but if he's gonna stay in the top 6 he's gonna have to continue putting up some points.

I agree with the basic concept of this, but it's hard to see how Tedenby contributes if he isn't scoring. He's not good defensively, he isn't physical, he'd get killed trying to fight. If he's not putting up points, all he can do is draw penalties and make the odd nifty play. That's valuable, but I'm not sure it's the best we can do with a top 6 forward spot, which I'm sure is where we all agree he needs to be.

That said, I do have faith that he will put up points soon enough.

I'm not even one that believes he needs to be in the top 6. If he is though then he has to be scoring. Zubrus is a guy who can away with being in the top 6, and not rack up points. The things that make him that way are things Tedenby does not possess. Even the Dainiusaur averaged a point every other game last year.

If Tedenby can get scoring I wouldn't mind seeing him on the third line cause maybe we can get some scoring going from more than just the two lines. Though if you do that he might lose the chemistry that got him there from the top 6 guys he played with.

Someone said Tedenby was overrated, and was comparing Tedenby to Gomez earlier. Then I replied back, and that's how Tedenby became the prime topic of discussion in the thread. I'll take the blame for it I guess. Would be cool if the mods could merge the Tedenby talk in here to the Tedenby thread.
