whats it like? last series i started and tried to get into was The Kingkiller Chronicle and was like..nope can't do it
I burned through the Kingkiller books a few years back when Hurricane Matthew knocked out power down here for a while. Did not care for them. Way too much fairy tree sex goddess shit in the second one.

But that wasn't your question. Stormlight is something I find difficult to describe without spoiling large parts of the overall world and story. But I'll try.

Basically, most of Sanderson's books are part of a larger shared universe called the Cosmere. That being said, it's 1000% not necessary to have read anything else if you don't want to. The Stormlight Archive is perfectly approachable on it's own.

It starts with The Way of Kings, which is a name of the book in the setting. Each book has several POV characters that you follow around, similar to A Song of Ice and Fire, but with 90% less food porn and descriptions of clothes. Gradually, more and more is revealed about the world, why it is the way it is, as well as the characters, and why they are the way they are. One in particular, Dalinar, is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction.

They all start fairly slow and feel sort of like they're meandering, but the climaxes are like using speed then taking a ride on space mountain.

It's a big undertaking, each book is huge and the hardbacks could legitimately be used a doorstop. See below pic.

All that being said, I can't recommend them highly enough. Rhythm of War released at midnight last night, and I'm already. almost a quarter of the way though already, and this one is the longest of them all at around 470,000 words. For reference, the entirety of The Lord of the Rings is about 575,000.

On Chapter 7 and I forgot how crazy Sanderson went on this Shallan multiple personality bit. I think I kind of got annoyed at it in Oathbringer. Now I'm getting a full dose of it and it's kind of getting me annoyed.

Hes building it up as a way to cope for something she did as a child that’s somehow worse than killing her parents.

I’m curious to see what it is.

meh, not really a spoiler, I guess.

This time lag between Perrin's story and everything else in book 13 is actually pretty distracting.

I noticed that there were mongooses in that lava sewer in the season one finale. Which is f***ing awesome, obviously. But now Cara Dune has saved a mongoose. F***ing hell, that's the way you tell a motherf***ing story. Apparently there is some controversy about her, but I'll look that up later after I finish this ep. I wouldn't be surprised if it's something extremely stupid.

It’s a political thing. Save yourself from looking into it.

Favreau/ Filoni 2024.

Also,
What do you suppose the Moff was looking at at the end of the episode? They looked like droids so my first thought was that they are Dark Troopers, from the 1995 PC game Dark Forces.

The likeliest scenario and from what I saw in passing audio description labeled them as such, I haven’t fact checked.
