This according to Nick Kypreos

"Many believe Saros will be available when the Predators finally slip out of playoff contention in two or three weeks. Both are 27 years old and locked into extended contracts with very reasonable $5-million (U.S.) cap hits."

It’d have to be a start of a rebuild unless they think he is damaged goods. Swap yah Markstrom for him lol

This makes absolutely no sense for the Predators. Trading Saros would be full on scorched earth rebuild.

One look at their cap situation and for better or worse, they’ve basically locked themselves into being competitive with this current roster.

A good chunk of their roster has close to immovable contracts too, so it’s not even like fully rebuilding would benefit them much.

They probably should honestly, max out the value now. They're never gonna be in a place to be serious contenders during his tenure. Sad :(

Nashville will do whatever they can to stay average.

No matter how many bad decisions it will mean

The problem is they just aren’t competitive

They are an average team with an elite goalie.
It would be easy for them to hit the bottom and start getting some quality picks

No chance of this. Askarov isn't ready for full-time duties and Saros is all they've got...and has done well. They need to upgrade a couple D and a couple forwards, first.

Honestly it could make some sense. If the Predators finally recognize they aren't going to win with what they have now, it would be a good way to start a rebuild or at the very least a "retool on the fly"

Saros would return a pretty good haul, you've got Askarov who they probably view as the future starter... Grab a good backup that can split starts with Askarov in the short term.

Obviously you dont trade him unless you get a really great return. But if that great return does present itself and Nashville can be honest about its future, it would be a good move.

just posted in the kings board wondering if Nashville could make him available come the offseason. They could get a haul for him.

When was the last time a star goalie with some term was traded in his prime?

If this is true why hold onto Josi? You can get the farm for both of them. LA has a massive farm and needs a goalie and LHD.

Honestly, we can get a haul for him and if we're not firing Hynes or becoming competitive we need to explore that option.

It's absurd that we're chasing a wild card spot with a Vezina caliber goalie and a Norris winning defenseman. I wouldn't be opposed necessarily.

With Saros and Josi , you should be able to load up with enough picks and prospects for an insane start on a rebuild .
I cant see that ever happening where they move Saros .
