Botterill isn't moving Reinhart. He's taking calls. Get it that this is a trade board, so we explore options. But the Sabres aren't looking for a change right now. Especially after a win in Boston where things started to click.

The idea that we're grading Reinhart's passing and distribution skills off ten games where most of the team sucked is ridiculous.

If he isn't looking for a change, then he isn't taking calls. This isn't hard.

Only you would think that professional gms just hang up on each other the second a player discussed is someone the answering gm doesn’t want to trade. Followed by a league wide memo the second the call ended notifying everyone not to call regarding Sam Reinhart, because said he didn’t want to “take” any calls.

He could have sent a league wide memo by telling Friedman "no" when he asked. Instead he left the door open, which means he wants those phone calls to come. Reinhart is very, very available.

I agree bots isn't openly shopping Sam in public right now.
But things hardly started to click in Boston. They went down 3 - 0 and 4 - 1 before playing hard for 16 to 18 minutes in the 3rd. That's improvement, but I won't say that's starting to click.....

Gudbranson, Baertschi and 2nd (Jim Benning Special) for SR. Given Buffalo a big rugged defender, a young 40 point skilled scorer and a pick. Gives Vancouver SR and accomplishes Benning's annual ofjective of getting rid of his 2nd round pick
Ask yourself: Would I do that for Horvath?
Neither of those pieces really does anything for Buffalo, so a resounding No thanks.

Every GM takes every call on every player. Unless they are names McDavid, Matthews, Crosby, or Eichel.

If he isn't taking calls, he's not doing his job. You're reading entirely too much into this.

Yep on both of the above. GMs take calls. And they listen. It's how they gain information on what teams want.

He could have sent a league wide memo by telling Friedman "no" when he asked. Instead he left the door open, which means he wants those phone calls to come. Reinhart is very, very available.

Right. That's exactly how GMs do it. "Hey, Friedman, please tell all the GMs I'm available to talk. Unless it's Reinhart. Then tell them not to call." FFS. That's ridiculous. You must be pretty flexible to make these types of stretches.

Yeah, except only certain names make it to the Friedman's and Dreger's of the world. And there is a reason for that. They want their names out there.
Reinhart's name has come up because other GM's would love to fleece a rookie GM out of a good young player, who has started the year slowly. Of course Botterill "wants the phone calls to come" not because he's intent on getting rid of Reinhart, but because he's always looking to improve his team. Like usual, you're completely misconstruing the situation.

You're so predictable. You lost this argument on the Sabres board after Davis' tweet about teams calling Botterill, and that the Sabres aren't selling. So you come here.

Don't worry. Reinhart isn't the type of player Jim Benning vastly overvalues.
Ha..ha....Reinhart is exactly the kind of player that Benning would overrate.....rumor was that Jimbo tried trading up to get him in his draft year but settled on Virtanen at sixth overall.
