You hear from insiders all the time that certain players aren't available ... it most certainly is leaked from clubs front offices.

Wording matters.

Leaking isn't really productive. That implies a GM reaches out to media.

Very different from Friedman calling Botterill asking about a player.

That's the difference here. And it's important.

Well I constitute that as leaking as well. And I have no doubt that insiders have asked about a players availability to a GM before and have been told that player is not available.

He'll I've even seen GMs say it to reporters.

It happens.

A GM talking to reporter asking a straight forward question isn't a leak. A leak isn't attributable to a decision maker.

I agree. A GM telling reporters straight out a player isn't available is not a leak. My bad for not making that clear
