A name of one of the WBS guys that caught my eye was Trotman, who was seemingly a NHL regular to an extent in his last full NHL season. I could see him being this year's Ruhwedel, he played in 38 games in 15-16 with Boston before missing a lot of last year due to injury.

Trottman is probably a bit better than Olesky. Tough Dman, no other good qualties aside from being tough. Fine #8, i like the signing.

Matt Martin plays similarly to Reaves, produces about as much, but never hindered Clutterbuck & Cizikas from putting up points. In fact he was 1/3rd of the best 4th line in the league for a 2-3 year stretch. Martin would create turnovers that the other two would cash in on. I think Reaves can do something similar for that line.

I think our 4th line can easily score 20 goals, and that's excluding any production Wilson gets when moved into the top 9 when there's injuries.

I agree with what Reaves can be. My issue is that Rowney is a guy that does the same thing. Hopefully Wilson can take advantage of two guys doing that.

As per Jacob:
Yeah I like Wilson - Rowney - Reaves. Then slot Sid or Geno into Rowney's spot a couple times per game.

Agreed! Additionally and for discussions sake only and not to create the acute need for cardiovascular resuscitation for some, spotting Reaves occasionally with the above "could potentially" refresh line configurations.

Please call 911 immediately if not sooner if you develop radiating left chest, neck, shoulder, or back discomfort often associated with nausea and sweating (diaphoresis) post reading the above!

I was in Toronto for the last 4 days...I missed the Colin Wilson trade. For a 4th in 2019, I would have been all over that.

Yeah that team doesn't have a true #1 center, but they have a ton of 2/3/4 type centers that could potentially help us.

Will be interesting to see if this is indeed a precursor to our move. I don't see anyone else out there except for Galchenyuk and Duchene that would prevent us from moving on to other targets. Maybe Kovalchuk (due to a team signing him and potentially moving a C out).

Derek Ryan as a 4C Would be nice. Him as our 3C would be trouble. But Ryan>>>Rowney at 4C.

With a solid Rask/Staal/TT/Lindholm down the Middle and now with Kruger being traded for, Ryan is probably doable for Scott Wilson. Maybe add a 5th.

Still think we need a better 4C than Rowney. Wouldn't mind him as a 13th forward but he doesn't bring enough offensively.

But we don't need that prior to the regular season starting. See where Cully is in August. If Cullen wants to retire, we roll with Rowney with the thought that most likely he's not staying as 4C all season. He's a good #13/14 forward because he plays different spots. He's not an 82 game guy.

A 4C at the deadline won't cost much. Honestly.

Yeah, the thing about Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck was they had unbelievable chemistry. Chemistry on a line can make up for all kinds of deficiencies.

The problem is, there aren't very many players in the NHL anymore that play the style that Reaves plays. He worked very well with Upshall and Brodziak, which was just a shade less effective than the Isles' fourth line.

We can only hope Wilson-Rowney-Reaves can develop that kind of chemistry.

But again, I would only be comfortable with that 4th line if we landed a more offensive 3C.

I like Ryan and he's one hell of a story, but he's just as much of a question mark as any out there. He made it to the NHL at the age of 29. Had a 29 pt season. He's no guarantee and he's a UFA next year (signed a 1 year deal).

I see a lot of people throwing his name out there, but he's as big of a question mark as anyone. I love his story. I actually like his game. But I see that as much of a gamble as any, right?

What's left as far as UFA 3C we could target? Any players overseas in European leagues we can target for 3C spot? I'm afraid of what it would cost to get Duchene trying to think of other options instead.

Ryan did get most of his points in a 17 game stretch though. (14). And went through some dry spells. 15 games in a row with no points.

So you have him as L4? We don't need to move for a L4 C right now. We need to leave it open for Cully. We need 3C but have plenty of time.

Yea. No way i feel comfortable with Ryan as 3C. He seems like a perfect 4C if Cullen does not return. Even then, he and Cullen can play wing.
