I see people talking about being the youngest team. How does that work out for the culture?

Eichel, Montour, Reinhart, Ullmark, ROR, Kane all gone because they are losers and we want good vibes. Its a young team with a losing culture and a loser coach. Who is teaching them to win when no one has won anything? Granato? Pfffft

Anyone taking into consideration the damage its doing. We already lost stars because of it.
With Ted Nolan at least the team gave 100% and left everything out on the ice(I am not advocating for Ted Nolan). What is Granato doing to create this? NOTHING.

You can see this team is lacking discipline and Granato doesn't hold players responsible and thats what is needed to change the culture of this team.

Exactly why I loved Nolan. Even when that mid 90s team missed the playoffs they were still hitting and fighting every night. None of this limp wrist crap. Not all their fault as the game is played very different today but still. I miss those banger teams

The thing is Granato is imprinting the style of play on the team and its awful. Sure there wont be fights but what team right is saying boy I don't want to play Buffalo they make us pay even if they lose. No one.

You go play a team like Boston or Tampa and you know you are gonna get punished physically by the time the game ends. This team doesn't stand up for each other, goalies get run and everyone just watches. They are so emotionless its so sad. Thats Granato's team.

Even if you were advocating for him, he said he’s done coaching for now. He cares more about trying to beat leukaemia

Similar to what others have said, this is an embarrassing statement to be making as a pro sports franchise. They're really putting off "country club" style vibes here with this type of response, defending what has been a losing coach when fans didn't really do much to "cross a line". Did the players, coaches, GM, owners feelings get hurt?

**** their feelings. We've watched 12 years of this crap and we're watching it unfold for a 13th. This is a results based business and the franchise they're playing for has not, and continues to not, perform at a respectable level.

Your fans have valid criticisms of your play and coaching both recent and long term. Look in the ******* mirror and stop being passive aggressive clowns to the fans because they were "mean" to a coach who shouldn't have a job right now.

Given the number of people who profess to hate the team, are personally insulted by the players and don’t like watching the games… why are you still here?

It’s ok to do something healthier with your time. Sabres management isn’t combing these message boards waiting to find your brilliant input.

Because its perfectly fine to vent on an internet message board. I care about this team a great deal and its beyond frustrating watching this. Please spare us this condescending response.

I couldn't care less about saluting the fans, unless the team has decided not to specifically to spite them. It's childish and insulting.

I've described Okposo as a good soldier for the Sabres numerous times on these boards. If he's behind this, or even acquiescent as Captain, which must be the case, then f*** that guy.

Fans hate them!!!(one weird trick)

If the Sabres never win at home, they never need to skip the fan salute

A lot of this goes way beyond venting; I.e. If you’re “beyond frustrated”

That's Pegula's team. This has been two straight GM's with literally no punch back in the lineup.

Really? Like what? I see most fans are here to vent and its therapeutic for them. I haven't noticed a poster here that doesn't want to win but I haven't seen anything go beyond venting. Can you give some examples? I would love to know whats going too far so I can avoid it.

The coach imprints the style of play on the team. When the goalie gets hit and no one stands up for the goalie which has happened more than once I am blaming the coach. Its his leadership that imprints on the team. If you want to say thats on the owner sure we are all entitled to our opinions.
This team is soft and doesn't stand up for each other or rarely they do.

I would consider earnestly wanting the team to be sold even if that causes it to be moved is not a healthy response.

At a minimum if someone's opinion prefers the team leaves, but continues to interact it with it regularly is behavior bordering on compulsion.

Why am I here? Because I love the Sabres and love hockey.

However, I hate this team.

OK, with you?

I get that, but I am honestly at that point.

This team and franchise were so important to me. I probably watched about 98% of all action from about 1987 to around 2013. When I was in college ('96-97), we didnt have empire for a year and my mom would mail me VHS recordings of the games and I would watch them after the fact. When we did get Empire, we would have giant house parties with beautiful women everywhere and I would be sequestered in a room until 10 or so glued to some Sabres game.

I took great pride in this franchise and always defended it as if it was a truly unique and great franchise. From the uniforms to the aud to the Knox family to Hasek to RJ. We always had the 3rd best winning/points percentage in NHL history I would tell my friends who supported other teams.

The Sabres were ingrained in my personal identity. I am sure people had referred to me as 'that Sabres guy'. People knew that I was who they should chat with about the Sabres or hockey.

But at the hands of this owner it has been completely ruined. I take no pride in this organization, and I think it is the most poorly run pro sports franchise who isn't purposely tanking to get a ballpark built in Las Vegas. As a fan, I have felt positioned as an adversary of ownership, management, and sometimes players since the moment Lucic laid out Miller with no response. Going to games is depressing and frustrating. It is not like going to watch the Buffalo Sabres. It is like visiting a once favorite relative in hospice care in a nursing home. Watching games has become a waste of time because this team never has games of any consequence. They are a dull team with dull weak players with dull coaches and bad management. I do not believe that ownership generally cares about winning as much as protecting his/their ability to be intimately involved. Ownership killed the clock on the last 10 years of RJ's career and robbed the world of a decade more of calls.
Kevyn Adams is not a serious NHL franchise's general manager. Don Granato is not an NHL coach hired in good faith. Neither would land their positions with other NHL teams. The lack of decent and experienced people in management positions in the front office is heinous.

If my kid were 18 and we knew he was getting drafted in the NHL, I would actually be distraught if Buffalo selected him. My kids now are 12 and 9, live locally, are hockey nuts, and have zero interest in the Sabres. That is a pretty bad sign for the franchise.

I would rather them not move. However, this existence is just as bad, if not worse. What highlights or fun over the last 13 years do we even have? How many games is that? More than 1000? I once thought during the bankruptcy times that the Sabres moving would be unthinkably horrible. Now, I don't really care all that much. It costs like $200-$300 to take my family to a game... to watch what? And players actually thought of a way to protest.... me?

But Jeff Skinner has a funny embarrassing goal song that they pierce my eardrums with when he scores.

So why do I post? I don't know. I didnt for years. I do feel like we could be nearing another inflection point with ownership needing to make changes. Hoping beyond hope he makes changes and does the right thing this time. A lot of it is habitual too. I have been posting on Sabres message boards since the really early days of this stuff, around 2000? I am like a ghost stuck in some activity loop.
Terry Pegula has effectively killed something that I loved. I feel like he needs to be called out on that. Unfortunately, the Buffalo News has been neutered, and so many people are largely indifferent to the Sabres at this point there is little push-back. We cannot boo to show our displeasure either apparently.

Just being honest with meandering thoughts here. Not saying I am 100% right and this is the only way people should think. But that is authentically how I feel. This owner in my eyes is delusional at his abilities to sit in as an NHL executive and he is highly selfish.

So glad we re-signed KO, cause ya know, culture!

I've thought KO was useless the last 6 years and continued downward through out. But, with the indifference in me the last couple years he wasn't even worth my time to complain about. and he is barely worth it in regards to this.

Not surprising though after his previous comments about not being here the entire 13 year drought (pretty close though KO!). Trade em for a 6th rounder at this point.

It's mind-blowing just how fast these guys went from being so likable to being a group of detestable petulant unlikable brats. I would've said they don't deserve to wear the sweater but given that the Sabres are a disgrace to the sport of hockey who symbolize neverending failure and shame they actually do. Just remove the RJ patches as they are in no way worthy of wearing those.

Rough year on the fans, players and team in general but who cares about a stick wave it was cool at first but then you can tell the players were just getting tired of it almost like they had the thought "i have to do this every night"

While I agree that the salute in general is not needed. They weren't doing this a decade or two ago from what I remmeber? But, it's the principle. You started it, and now you're stopping.

it looks and is childish and shows very poor leadership and accountability.

What's next, they stop coming out for the 3 stars of the game?
