I think there's a little more to Toffoli than he's shown the last few seasons in LA, but that's an overpayment especially for a pending UFA.

So Ristolainen and Scandella for Perreault? That's brutal for Buffalo.
You don't trade unless there is an extension in place. ERod is a throw in for cap purposes so a 2nd + Samuelsson for TT is probably the going rate.

Darren Helm for a 4th? Any takers?

Helm still skates well and works hard...he just makes a mil too much, and has never really been a scorer.

What about Athanasiou and Helm for 2020 1st, 2021 4th and Borgen/Pilut?

The guy had 34 points last season and you want to pay big and give him an extension?
Who said pay big? Are you saying a 2nd a Samuelsson is paying big? Its not.

He is 27 years old and is a 20 goal scorer that skates well and has a good shot. What do you think those cost you?

Decent pick (non first) OR a mid level prospect. Tough to gauge as you don't know what you are going against. If you offer was presented the Kings would have already ran with it.
We would add a 20-30 goal scorer to the team and push Sobotka out of the top 6 without touching the roster. I wouldn't do it without an extension in place but I don't see the kings moving Toffoli for mid level prospects or just picks. I take the chance because I see Toffoli as a good fit with the sabres.

I think Toffoli gets a 1st at the deadline. Someone always overpays

To be fair, we did get a better skater and goal-scorer in Skinner for a 2nd and a lesser prospect. As always, what it costs to get a deal done depends on the market.

Samuelson is pretty darn close to untradeable.

The only way I see Buffalo trading him its it was something like him+Risto for Morressey of WPG

He is not being traded for a rental

I wonder if they'd check in on Ryan Strome.
Expiring Strome at 3.1 for the top and Brendan Smith at half reduced to 2.175 for bottom line grit, emergency reserve D.

Rangers need to move vets and give mins to youth.
Would discount Strome for taking Smith.
Open to reasonable cap coming the other way.

Buffalo has 8 or 9 NHL capable defenders, what would they need a 10th for?

If you replace Jokiharju with Ristolainen, I would probably make this deal, we could even take some kind of cap dump, but not Seabrook of course.
