As would I. Then again, would we want to showcase him before putting him on waivers???

That thought actually crossed my mind too, lol. Really, I think he'd get claimed even if we didn't play him. I think NHL teams know.

IMO we should be running with 8 defensemen anyways. Richards likes it as he can have 4 pairings in practice and can work defensemen harder each game. What are the odds that one doesn't get injured anyways?

Why a guy like Tropp has a 1-way contract is beyond me, but send him down instead.

Just to put it in perspective two of these defensemen cleared waivers last week, the other one is Golo. Forgive the formatting, looks better before it's posted.

Not that I don't think Golo would get through - he probably would, though its uncertain. But T.J. Brennan, an offensive specialist, is not a good comparable.

My point is that, if he is going to get claimed, teams will claim him. We can't fool them by not playing him, if we know a player like Goloubef is valuable then rest assured other teams do too.

#CBJ D Ryan Murray will not play
tonight vs #Sens
Today.
In the future Murray will not play vs California team, will not play in regular season, will not play in PO and so on...
I get tired from this twits.

Did anyone else listen to CBJin30 Thursday. I could have swore BobbyMac said Murray's injuries from last and this season were unrelated, that last year he had a shoulder issue. I thought I was dreaming maybe

Did anyone else hear that?

Richards said on Thursday that Murray would likely return during the four game road trip. Not sure why there is angst by him not playing tonight. Four days until the next game, that much longer to get fully ready.

How old is he....21...22

I see no reason to bring him back until they are 99% he is ready to come back and stay in the lineup.

No Doctor or surgeon can guarantee you 100% he won't relapse. Medicine is not an exact science.

At this point, how worried are we that Murray will never be healthy enough to make a lasting impact on the CBJ franchise?

I'm positive he played north of 70 games last season, and this season, injuries have been a problem for nearly everyone on the team.

I'm not worried at all to be honest. He's like, what, only 20? Way too early to begin panicking.

It's a very reasonable concern. Here are Murray's last 6 seasons of games played:

09-10.... 52/72 (72%). He was a rookie in the WHL and I have no idea if injuries had anything to do with him missing 20 games.

10-11....70/72 (97%)

11-12....46/72 (63%)

2012 Drafted by CBJ #2 Overall

12-13....23/72 (32%) Shoulder injury ended season in WHL before he would have played in lockout shortened season.

13-14....66/82 (80%) First NHL season

14-15....4/24 (17%).

In his last 4 seasons, Murray has played in only 139 of a possible 250 regular season games....55.6% or about 5 out of every 9 games.

Murray's highest percentage of games played in the past 4 seasons was last season's 80%. It's certainly not a stretch to say he's injury prone.

I would probably back Jarmo if he only offered him a lowball bridge deal after his entry level contract expires after next season:laugh:

How bad does the strength and conditioning staff look? A freaking tricep injury for Arty? I mean come on. The whole hernia/groin thing was bad enough. Get some a new S&C staff already.

I hate to say it, but I agree. I don't think having all these injuries is just a coincidence. This has just been crazy.

I have to admit, having worked in computer security AND having worked for statistics experts, "this cannot be mere coincidence" has slowly become an amusing cliche to me. And that's in spite of (or perhaps subtly because of) my own tendency to lean on it when I'm stressed. :D

I'd certainly look into whether or not something's going wrong with S&C, but I wouldn't be so quick to say "fire them!". At least try to test against the null hypothesis before jumping to conclusions. :)

Looking to the strength and conditioning staff because of a tricep pull? Amusing.

I'm not going to comment on the overall job they may or may not be doing; I simply can't tell you. Having said that, I'm not looking at them because of this string of injuries. Especially not a tricep pull. There is another thread these last 4 posts should be in.

So to get this back on Ryan Murray - no I don't think him being out could have been avoided with a different strength and conditioning staff.

If only we could cross Bifrost and appeal to Odin to give us all cosmological knowledge, then we'd know for sure.

(Does that count?)

Sorry - wrong thread, but that's at least 8 (maybe more?) groin/hernia injuries in 18 months.
