I’ll play, I agree though for reference, not to mention out top 6 would be saddled with long term deals.

11.5M in space, 12.5 Turris to the minors. Klefbom to LTIR 16.5, Neal buyout 3.83 in savings. So we have 20M to spend

Larsson 4X4, at minimum
Yamamoto 2X2 at minimum.
Hyman 5X5
Hall 5X5

16M spent.
Goalie 3.5-4M.

Koskinen likely has to go to try to get a 3C.

Maybe I haven’t watched them enough but doesn’t Hyman play LW?

Having all of RNH/Hyman/Hall on the LW at 5Mish doesn’t make a tonne of sense.

So in closing it’s do able, but it would go down as probably the craziest offseason in Oilers history, something I don’t see Holland doing

For me I would do this above. Trade Koskinen to Seattle with a first round pick. Said Goalie acquisition would be Ullmark 4M. Trade Lavoie/pick for Strome in Chi. Sign backup G 1M ish

Strome-Mcdavid-Pulju
Hyman-Drai-Yama
Hall-RNH-Kassian
Mcleod/Marody/Benson/Archibald

Nurse-Bear
Keith-Larsson
Russel/Lagesson-Bouchard

Ullmark.

That’s a lineup that could just squeeze under the cap given expected numbers and a Neal buyout Koskinen trade. And is a very good and very deep team.

To easy Holland, your move

Where’s the money coming from for the Nurse/Pulju extensions next season? Need to have more foresight than this when building a roster.

I get it that Kassian might be a Burke type player (truculence), but given their cap and how many average players they have making above average money, I can't see any way they would want to do a Jarry/Kassian swap. It would be really really really dumb on their part.

I have my eyes on Kuemper, Mrazek and Driedger. Ideally we can work out a Koskinen + for Kuemper trade where the plus isn't too much. If not shoot Koskinen to the moon and sign the UFA.

Wait, you mean we have to be cap compliant EVERY YEAR? Maybe he's thinking like Brisebois.

I sincerely don't know how we sign a RD, Yamamoto, a goalie, and acquire two 6 million dollar wingers after throwing 5.5 mil in cap space into a black hole and watching it spaghettify.
Haha yeah, it’s tough honestly. Unless Holland has a crazy plan regarding signings and whatnot and can pull off some nifty deals. I guess if they LTIR Klefbom that’s another 4m to play with, and if they have to bite the bullet and buyout Neal/Koskinen. Gotta wonder if this is the year we have to trade our first (which would suck considering picks remaining) to either get rid of Neal’s cap or in trade for a goalie/RD.

Something like a 1st, Bear and Neal with a bit of retention for a guy like Parayko and 3rd

Read above where I said it was unlikely, I’ll post it here too, but I decided to play along, that was my whole point in the first post where I said it was extremely unlikely. That’s just a team I think would kick ***.
It’s literally next to impossible. One would expect Hall/Hyman to come in at around 10M. Even with a Neal buyout, and the probably 3-4M required for another goalie. You wouldn’t have enough to add a 3C. Also have to resign/replace Larsson. Resign Yamamoto.

Like I said I don’t see Edmonton doing it because the entire top 6 would be tied into long term deals, as both Hyman/Hall will want term.

All of

Hall
Hyman
Drai
Mcdavid
RNH

at 5+ year deals would leave the team next to no flexibility, hence why it won’t happen, despite the rumor circulating on here

What about it doesn't make sense?
Oilers didn't have the capspace for Hall. If Holland and Hall agreed to get together this offseason to bring him back, why waste assets bringing him back a bit earlier? Doesn't make sense to waste assets if you know you are getting a guy in a few months anyways
I don't see it as "wasting" assets if you can acquire a legit top 6 forward for a crazy low price at the deadline and sign him long-term at reasonable dollars as well. In most years a guy like Hall would get dealt for a 1st and a solid prospect and the price ended up only being a 2nd round draft pick. Even if we had to get a little creative with regards to opening up cap space, I'm just not convinced Holland wouldn't do that if Hall was actually a viable option.

McYams17 said:
Holland said himself they were not going all in at the deadline.
I really don't think a 2nd round draft pick and some prospects/picks to open up cap space is "going all in." I understand being hesitant to move guys like Broberg and Holloway but that's not what it would have taken to make this happen.

Anyway, I'd love to be wrong as Hall would instantly give us the legit scoring winger that we need but I don't see it. He's going to have a lot of options this off-season (especially if he's legitimately looking at long-term deals for under $6M) and despite the really poor season, I think he'll have a ton of options at that price point.

Take it for what its worth but on Spittin Chiclets, Biz brought up Hall back to Edmonton and Whit shot it down immediately. He said he texted with Hall about it and he said no truth to the rumor. But I doubt he would say anything different if he was thinking about coming here.

Ok. So. I wasn’t a fan of the Keith deal, but I have faith Holland can turn this around. I think this is a good realistic template for the rest of the offseason.

BUYOUTS:
James Neal and Mikko Koskinen
  • This gives us about 18 million to play with in the offseason to build around Connor and Leon. The buyout penalties won’t really matter. We need to win today.
EXPANSION:
  • We leave Benson exposed. We can’t expose Kassian. We can’t lose his presence. Benson gets taken. No big loss.
So aprox 18 million and we need to sign Yamo internally. I have a feeling Larsson is likely gone, so we may need to look at other physical D. So the shopping list is 3C, LW, 2RD, 1G and 2G.

DRAFT DAY TRADE:
Ethan Bear
1st 2021
3rd 2023
For
Tristan Jarry
  • We may lean on Bob Green for this one who has a good track record. He’ll have a good read on Jarry going back to their Oil King days. We get a young goaltender signed to a fair deal. One goalie spot covered. The extra 3rd isn’t really a big deal either way. It’s just a 3rd. Drops is down to 16.5 available cap.we need a true number one. Under control.
RFA SIGNINGS:
Kailer Yamamoto 2 x 3.00m
  • Get Yamo for a reasonable clip. No need to improve RW. Yamo is a clear cut top six winger.
UFA SIGNINGS:
Matias Janmark 4 x 3.25m
  • We grab out much needed top six winger. Holland will know Janmark. Comfort there. Coming off a career year.
Travis Hamonic 4 x 3.80m
  • We miss out on Lars but grab a stud vet who adds grit and leadership. He wants to be in Western Canada so we have the leverage. We can get him on a team friendly deal.
Luke Glendening 3 x 1.80m
  • We grab a face off wizard veteran centre. Right shot too. You have to jump on these guys when they’re available. Again Holland will be comfortable with the player.
Tyson Barrie 5 x 5.50m
  • Career year and a top pairing D. He led the league in scoring in defence so he won’t come cheap
OPENING LINEUP:
Janmark - McDavid - Puljujarvi
N.Hopkins - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Shore - Glendening - Kassian
Khaira - McLeod - Archibald
Haas - Russell

Nurse - Barrie
Keith - Hamonic
Broberg - Russell
Bouchard

That's an absolutely brutal trade for a goalie that pens fans are running out of town.

Also if that's our defense opening night we're going to get absolutely obliterated all season.

Yeah, trade for a former Oil King when their team has lost faith in them. That worked really well last time, let's do it again.

I think he is serious.... Maybe he's joking.

Not that I don't appreciate a juicy rumor, and thanks to @Snipes45 for sharing, but I can't imagine that any deals are in place outside of re-signings. All of it just seems so far out there to be realistic.
Deals are always done before. Agents all talk to GM's. All I can say is that what I seen shows me they are "in place"

Lol I'll post the link

Confirmed with Link: - [EDM/CHI] Duncan Keith for Caleb Jones and a 3rd | Pt.2

Snipes45 was right about one thing. McDavid, Leon etc DID want Keith on the team. Friedman and Holland himself confirmed it today
They want to win. It's basically go time. We have to win in the next 4/5 years. Connor knows it. Leon does too. It's a good thing. These guys care.

Holland already sat Connor down last year. Telling him his plans. Guys like Connor are like Michael Jordan. You keep them and listen to them or you don't and lose them.
