This is pretty good number crunching. A few unknowns still, but a good road map.

I don't think he can do much better, $6 million would put his cap hit at a tie for 7th among goalies with Crawford and Schneider. The top 10 is rounded out by Varlamov making $5.9 million. I would argue 6 million is probably below or at the low end of his market value given where the cap is this year. Paying him $6 million would be essentially be paying him like an above average goalie but not like a superstar goalie so I would be ok with that.
He will squeeze out a few hundred K

I just don't understand 3 mil for Lowry. And another thing. Is anybody else mildly concerned about Vesa not being signed yet? I find it a tad usual.

ELC are relatively easy to hash out in a short amount of time, I would expect him to sign when he is in town for the development camp so that he can do interviews etc...

Barring signing Trouba, I feel like trading Myers this off season makes the most sense. That way we'll be able to:
-Be cap compliant
-Stay away from bonus overages for next season
-Sign Morrissey to a long term contract instead of a bridge
-Get some assets for a player on an expiring contract which we will not be able to retain, who also happened to come off a strong healthy season after some recent injury scares

It will obviously be a downgrade to our roster but with:

Morrissey-Trouba
Niku-Buff
Kulikov-Poolman
Chiarot-Morrow

We should be good. We could also go shopping for a third pairing RHD and push Poolman to the AHL, if we can find one for low monies.

This is what I did with my numbers, not sure why we're seeing such a discrepancy.

When I calculate your numbers out manually I get your $80.4 million prior to getting to the bonus section as shown above, so it looks like the cap friendly program doesn't include bonuses in their final cap calculation.

Some random thoughts from Chevy today...

Petan seems like a strong possibility to be moved... Chevy didn't downplay the notion that he might need to get his NHL shot elsewhere.

Seems unlikely the Jets will try to trade into the first round. Chevy noted that prices for picks are at a peak at this time of year...

Didn't rule out signing Stastny, but again indicated it would be tough...

Is mainly focused on negotiations with RFAs to get the roster set up for the future...

Lets hope Chevy is trying to keep expectations under control and we see a move tomorrow. I really want to see Myers moved.

Shocked that Chevy would give as direct answers as he did about Petan and Stastny as opposed to his usually saying a whole lot but no real info. He's a changed man!

What do you want in return for Myers?

My preference would be either a 2/3C or a 2019 pick +.

I am happy with a 1st, doesn't matter which year this next or even 2020 for that matter. Anything more than that would be gravy for me.

I'd love him to look at 2019 picks, if he's in the market for picks. Value will be better.

I agree that he should hang onto Petan for another year... gives another year to assess him, and more flexibility if they need to move a vet like Perreault.

Petan requires waivers this year. So does Dano.

I would like to see your numbers if you have them available somewhere.

I just roughly did the following:

Petan, Dano, Tanev, Morrow 1x1m
Armia 2x2m
Lowry 2x3m
Trouba 4x6m
Morrissey 7x5m
Hellebuyck 6x6m

With those signings I'm less than 1m over the cap with potential bonuses. I feel those contracts are fair, but there may be some wriggle room. Depending on how all of them go they might be able to get everyone signed below the cap even with potential bonuses. If so then we don't really need to move anyone out this offseason. Next offseason it's looking like we'll definitely have to move out Myers and Perreault though. I personally think it would be prudent to move Myers out this offseason with his value being high after a successful year and only one year remaining on his contract. Can't see Chevy moving him though unless an offer he couldn't refuse came along.

I also feel that players like Armia who are between top 6 and ELC/league minimum contracts are going to have to be cap casualties moving forward.

We can't afford the 1 mil in bonus overage the next year when we are really up against the cap. There will be some additional losses for injury. We can hope that will be small but it is pretty safe to say it will be more than zero.

I have us at just about 2 mil over without injuries.

I doubt Myers gets moved now(it’s a little too late imo) but that being said I do have a funny feeling Trouba is gonna be moved tomorrow and we Jets fans aren’t gonna like the return.
