Given his relationship with laine, I wonder m if the Jets are interested? Trouba would fill a lot of holes.

It could certainly be a deal to consider, but I think there would layers to it.

Edmonton doesn't do the deal unless Trouba can be extended. The problem is, that can't happen until after the expansion draft.

Jets probably want to do this deal before the expansion draft.

On paper, I'd love to have Trouba especially if he can return to his rookie level of performance but I really don't like a lot of the narrative coming out of his camp in regards to where he wants to play and what his contractual demands will be. Might not be happy here and may not be worth the headache. Let alone the cost of acquiring him.

He is signed for 2 years. You have one year to get him signed long term. If that fails, you trade him.

We have a chance to win the cup next year and he would be our best dman.

Thinking along the lines of trading Puljujarvi to a team where he has familiarity with another Fin, what about Carolina? We could try to get Faulk, who is a good 2-way D who has a history with Sekera (I think).

That being said, it's easy to be down on Puljujarvi, but I'd rather keep him. He is very raw, obviously. When he learns the NA game, fills out his frame, and gains experience, he will be a force.

Maroon/McDavid/Puljujarvi
Lucic/Nuge/Draisaitl

That is a pretty big, skilled, and speedy top 6. I mentioned Drai with Nuge because I think Nuge could use more help with driving a line.

I agree with those lines.

LOL. I was thinking the exact same thing earlier but didn't want to get trashed for trading JP. Not that I would want to any way but I was thinking of something like

RNH/JP for Lindholm/Hanafin/+

Maroon-McD-Drai
Looch-Lindhom-Ebs

Klef-Larsson
Hanafin-Sekera

Lindholm is 22, plays physical and was 57% on draws this year

The biggest question I have with this is why is Ebs still in your lineup????

Nuge has 4 points in his last 5 games, and had one assist taken away. He's also been playing with a couple of guys who have been poor. How anyone can slam Nuge this playoffs is beyond me, he's been clearly one of our best 3 forwards by a country mile.

I really don't see too many calling Nuge a bad player . He has been good . 6 Million good ? No . I said it month and months ago in a thread on the mains . We need an upgrade on RNH , Russells and Eberle . I got ripped a new one the same way I did when I said I was happy with the Hall deal and said we are a better team for it . Too many fans see the name on the back of the jersey . I rather lose a trade on paper and win the battle on the ice .

Sign Stone he better then Russell and he is a true RHD ....Better balance team ...Let Klefbom be our PP specialist until Bear forces our hand

Eberle to Flordia for Bjugstad . Big right hand C that can play the wing on the PP , play on the 2nd line as a RW .

RNH for a big shut down C .Like Couturier add to him if you have to to get the deal done . Opens up more cap

Pay Vegas 2nd rd pick in 2018 to take Pouliot

Send Letestu packing as well

Maroon McD Puljujarvi
Lucic Draisaitl Bjugstad
Cagguila Couturier Kassian
Slepy XXX Pitlick

All of these are realistic except Couturier . It would hurt to get him but i would go all in hard . He would be shutting down the Ducks top line better then anything we can currently throw at them

Think it's realistic that Vegas is gonna pay Benoit Pouliot $8m over the next two years, huh? That's optimistic to say the least.

Nope, but they will be paying Eberle $12m over the next 2 years though ;)

Pretty sure they've said theyre willing to take on a couple contracts for picks. My guess is they're telling teams they're only offering 2-3 of those 'favours' so to 'start the bids now!'

They're not going to have any defence prospects at all and we're swimming in them.

Wonder if a pick and a waiver exempt D prospect like a John Marino moves the needle for them at all.

Protected Forwards: Drai, Lucic, RNH, Eberle, Maroon, Kassian, Khaira.
Protected Dmen: Klefbomb, Larsson, Sekera.

Letestu is a good 4C imo, but why would Vegas waste a pick on a guy who is under contract for 1 more year?

That essentially leaves Pouliot & Reinhart as the most realistic options. If I'm Vegas, and I'm in the same division as the Oilers, why am I doing them any favors?

Pouliot is a solid middle 6 winger. However, he has a history with injuries, being on a short leash with the coach, and coming off a really bad season. The $4m price tag is steep for someone who didn't even produce at a 3rd line rate this season.

Then you have Reinhart, who could be a 3rd pairing shut down dman for Vegas for years, and his potential is still 2nd pairing imo. So if I'm going risk/reward, clearly Reinhart is the pick.

The silver lining is that our LHD depth is set for the next 2 years, after that Sekera's contract will have to be moved to make room for Nurse. On the farm we have Simpson, Oesterle, Paigin, Lagesson, and Jones. We'll be okay.

What do people think of this:

To:
:vegas

Edmonton leaves Eberle exposed.

To:
:edmonton

34th Overall

So it basically becomes 34 + whoever they would take for Eberle.

Thoughts?

Vegas is a team in the desert. I can't see them tying themselves to big contracts if those guys aren't going to be in vital positions in the lineup. It's an upstart franchise and there's no promise they'll be filling the stadium every year.

Benoit Pouliot is a $4m fourth liner. And he really hasn't been a good one to be honest. I think it's really optimistic to think anything we have beyond our top prospects will move the needle on them spending that kind of dough.

Eberle (+?) for Gallagher? Montreal needs offense, Ebs might fare better in the EC. I imagine MTL would say no but in my head this trade happens :naughty:

I think as always, Chia will surprise us with unpredictability.

McDavid, Draisaitl, Lucic, Kassian, Letustu, Cagguila
Klefbom, Larsson, Sekera
Talbot

Essentially 50% of the roster is all that I feel 100% comfortable in being part of the organization next year. I excluded Pulju on purpose too. Not that hes seen as a negative value, but if there's any chance theyre worried about his future and find a team that isn't.... who knows.

Puljujarvi is our last potential all star caliber player coming along unless we really get lucky with one or two of our drafted/signed prospects. Right shot as well (who is our right handed offensive weapon up front if we deal him and Eberle?).

IMO our offseason will see us targeting a RHD with offensive abilities, a 3C that has size and is an ace on draws, and the likely trading of Eberle.

I think after watching this team in playoffs Chia wouldnt be looking for that. We need a RHD with size and grit more than offense. An upgraded version of Gryba to compliment Nurse\Sekera\Klefbom\(possibly)Russell on the left side.

My dream:

Expose Eberle (-6 mil)
RNH for 2nd round pick + prospect (-6 mil)
Pouliot for conditional pick (-4 mil)

Sign McDavid for 9 mil per year and Draisaitl for 7 mil per year (+16 mil)

I would keep RNH and walk away from Maroon if we really need the space after next year.
