Interesting to note from Stauffer's latest tweet: 2 scouts apiece from Dallas and Chicago here, as well as FLA. That's 2 games in a row for each of those teams that they've had that number here for Oilers games now.. no idea who they'd be looking at.

Purcell and schultz likely.

Can't have too much scoring depth going down the stretch and into the playoffs, and neither of these guys requires a commitment after this season.

Dallas has a few interesting prospects, same with Florida. Chicago only has Hartman and 1,2nd picks that are interesting

Reported by who though? During that time, Chiarelli said there was a lot of fiction going on out there. Besides, the main driving force behind Columbus' push to move Johansen was that their relationship had soured. They moved their 1C for a prospect D. We don't have a similar situation with RNH.

If anything, if you read between the lines with Stauffer (who is well connected), he basically said once that there were extensive talks for a RNH-Weber trade, not Jones.

Two,or three weeks ago by the panel on HNIC. That is what they said and RNH was turned down as not Columbus guy. I think posters on this board are selling Dumba short as well but thats why we have these boards to verbalize our opinions.

Don't want any part of Dumba. He's an absolute mess in his own end, and his average offence and the odd big hit doesn't make up for it.

I'm fine with Dumba as a 3rd pairing PP specialist, but it would be hard for us to shelter him better than Minny presently is he starts 39.9% of time in the offensive zone to 29.0% of the time in the defensive zone and faces the 6th toughest Corsi QoC. I'd put him more along the lines of a Yakupov in that their is obvious skill and potential there, but when you break down their respective games there are glaring holes, in the right circumstances either one has the potential to be useful, but I'd struggle to unequivocally say either one is a good player, more like they can be useful in this particular circumstance.

RNH straight up for Dumba would be stupidity on a massive MASSIVE scale.

Anyone else get disgusted when you see Taylor Hall in the trade forum? I have so much respect for him as a hockey player and his rare negative moments are OK with me.

I love the McDavid, Eberle, Draisaitl, and Hall foursome. I feel like that is the core group of forwards to build around. Open to keeping RNH if we can afford it, but am OK if he's the piece to upgrade our D.

If we want to have an honest discussion about how to add a legit number 1 D--Hall's name will come up.

Eberle and Nuge wont get you the number 1 D at this point in time.

Whether we want to have have an honest discussion about ways to get a number 1 d- or just continue in the idea that someone will do a Quantity for Quality trade is another thing.

For me, I think we need to admit the first four years of the rebuild were screwed up. McDavid, Leon D, Nurse and Klefbom are the true building blocks of this team and we build from there.

When I see lists stating that hall, Nuge, Eberle, Sekara, McDavid, Leon, Nurse and Klef are the building blocks--I look at where we are in the standings and think that if we are hoping a savior on D will come to us via the draft--gotta point out to them, that OEL, Hedman and others who are number ones took a few seasons to grow into the spot.

Whether we want to admit it or not, not giving Hall, Nuge and Eberle bridge contracts of 2 to 3 years and then 7 year deals looks to be coming back to bite us in the ass.

Unless something drastict happens this off season we wont be in the playoffs till 17/18 season--meaning 1 more year of Eberle, 2 for hall and 3 for Nuge before they are UFAS--we can hope they take home town discounts--but we just need to look at the situation in TB with Stamkos at what we could be looking at in a few years---it is a distraction.

In a few seasons we could be seeing McDavid at between 10m and 12.5mill cap hit and we just need to look at the Pens at what happens when you put your money into you top few guys (Geno 9.5. Sid 8.7. Kessel 6.8 and Letang 7.25)

we should actually be happy Yak has sucked--becuase if he was scoring he would be getting a huge pay raise

Don't listen to the clowns from HNIC as their anti-Oilers and will bash the Oilers every chance they get because the Oilers won the McDavid lottery instead of the HNIC favorite team, the Leafs.

Why are you pushing Dumba so hard he is not worth RNH and is not the type of dman we need. He is young we have enough young players, would take Nurse, Klefbom and Davidson over him

I was so optimistic that Schultz would return something when those rumors were circulating.....

ugh....I'm so skeptical now though.....

Why on earth would any team take this guy for a playoff run? Literally the only value he has is as a reclamation project at a reduced cap hit which you can only get if you sign Schultz as an FA and it is a near certainty that he will be an FA. The only thing that would jeopardize that strategy would be to trade for Schultz at the deadline.

Seems the Oilers have really mastered holding onto assets until they have no value then blaming them and trading them for nothing. Can't wait until they trade Yak and Nuge for peanuts.

Both Schultz and Purcell are gonna suffer month long injuries in the Feb. 28 game and won't be moved before the deadline the next day.
