It's interesting to see the timetable for Babcock making his decision.
I mean, O'Reilly is the perfect example of a hockey player Mike Babcock absolutely would make love with. And if Babcock for some reason is without a contract before the draft, I think Murray might conduct his overpayment to get a piece that Babcock loves.
I think in one of the media interviews / reports by either McKenzie or LeBrun, they made the same kind of prediction - that any of the teams wooing Babcock who are a bit further from contending right now may promise to accelerate their rebuild process by adding immediate talent if Babcock were to agree to join them, meaning they'd be even more aggressive in trades than they were originally planning to.
We know Murray will revisit O'Reilly's availability this summer but, if Babcock is on the fence about whether or not to consider Sabres, it could be the tipping point for Murray being willing to overpay to add an impact player now.
