Responding to ''LEAFSPENSFAN''. Well, it would kinda suck, if there's a player we traded for after the game, that helped CBJ beat us tomorrow. lol

Posted again because other reports are boring:

Colligan knows his ****.

I don't remember who they played when Botterill was there, but Clancey was there for the game against the Habs and tonight's game was against the Devils.

Oh, you're right. Botterill was I think the game before Clancey.

Hey, as long as it's a potential deal that helps us, I hope you're right Kirk. It'll spice up the next few days. And since we play them in about 14 hrs, maybe something is completed prior to our 5:07pm puck drop.

Well, the spitballing beats Eklund.

I feel like with the long break until tomorrow's game, they just wanted to make sure they did a good job of scouting to see two looks at a team because the points matter and they don't want to mess up with a new look CBJ.

We're likely reading way too much into this.

So, we're sending our heaviest hitters on a scale usually reserved for a playoff series or where a big trade is under consideration, not to scout potential acquisitions within 100 hours of the trade deadline, but to scout for a game on Sunday?

I just want want to make a point about Foligno, if for some reason he is available, I would be willing to give up a small kings ransom for him. He's exactly the sort of player we need. Maybe Letestu also.

We're probably talking Sutter, Spaling and Pouliot though. Not that I think such a deal would happen, but cap wise that would work.

How do you know that?

Also, why would it be a problem to fit that? We have more than 1.13M available...

His cap hit is 1.7 million somehow.

I don't know anything, he's just the first Jackets player that came to mind that I thought no one would want.

Sutter makes no sense. They've got Anisimov.

Spaling? No point for them.

My thinking has been Kunitz + Kapanen + ONE of Harrington, Despres, Dumo, 2016 #1?

If you're Jarmo, does that just knock your socks off? I don't see it.

But, you mention DP . . . he's the only guy I could see tipping the balance, but, hey, maybe Jarmo really, really loves Kapanen.

I forgot Foligno only makes three million this year, that would help. And yes maybe they'd want Kapanen. I certainly don't think it would happen, but cap wise Spaling or some such player would have to be involved, maybe Kunitz. Spaling/Kunitz, KK and Harrington? But I think Kunitz has a limited NTC.

I live here and they're trying hard to market Folingo after signing him to a big deal. He's a fan favorite, Columbus hates Pitt more than any other team, and they need all the fans they can get.

The price would be absurd to bring him to the Pens.

When they acquired Hartnell they specifically mentioned that he was a player the Penguins hate playing against, they're pushing the rivalry hard.

Even if we don't see it that way, they do. At the very least they're trying to sell that mentality to their fans.

So basically our best defensive prospect in Harrington and our best forward prospect in Kk + a roster player for foligno? Lol yeah no thanks. Columbus would take that deal and run because it's so horribly bad from a pens angle. Do you really want to gut our future for foligno? Probably the dumbest thing I've heard on these boards

This is absolutely correct.

Would I trade for example Spaling, KK and Harrington for Foligno? Considering Sid and Geno's age, yeah I'd make that deal.

Good thing Shero didn't trade Michalek to Ottawa for Foligno, would've sucked to use up that cap space and miss out on Parise.

TR, what do you make of this? Botterill and Clancey scouting Columbus a few games ago, tonight it's Fitzie and MacKinnon.

1. Nothing out of the ordinary, even within 100 hours of the TDL?

2. Little fish like Atkinson?

3. JR has something big planned, be it Hartnell for Kunitz type or a blockbuster for Folingo that involves selling a lot of futures to secure Folingo on Malkin's LW until he (JR) retires?

Well, first of all we are playing them next... so there's that. Beyond that I kinda hope we aren't doing anything much there as I don't see how Columbus have anything we'd need at any kind of reasonable price.
