Here
I want Kostin. Rangers can use a big body to replace Kreider, Kostin also has a mean streak in his game and chemistry with Kravtsov can't hurt. if Kostin is not part of the Blues trade for Kreider I will be shocked.

Was reading Pronman's top 100 midseason prospect rankings. Kostin was ranked 57th in his original rankings and then dropped off the list (So did K'Andre Miller). He responded to a reader who brought it up in the comments section (pretty sure I'm ok posting that here, if not let me know) and said:

"He's not having a bad season. I haven't minded him at all when watched SA and had a good camp. He's not having a great season though and NHL scouts have sent me mixed reports. It's his 3rd year in A as well and while I love the toolkit he's gotta score sometime. He was a late cut on list."

Another fan chimed in after:

"@Corey Pronman Kostin has turned it on after coming back from the injury. He's got 4g, 4a and a +3 with a dramatic increase in shots over his last 8 games, and did not look out of place during a brief NHL call-up (just before the November injury). Feels like you're really sleeping on this one."

Of course the Blues know best, but I think Kostin is definitely in play given what it will take to land Kreider. But - it's likely JG can do even better. Tyler Madden was 40th on his list and Nolan Foote was 48. This list doesnt mean everything, but the general consensus of scouts around the league does count for something.

The Blues may go hard after the repeat. They need a shake up, they are 2-6-2 over their last 10 despite barley holding onto a lead in the Central. The Avs are dealing with a ton of injuries, McDavid is out and Vancouver just improved. Other teams in the West are likely to be active. Hopefully they get desperate and send over their 1st, Kostin and more.

It very well may be that hank has been told we’re showcasing Georgiev and to literally sit tight till it happens.

he is going to be a back up for us next year but that may be his choice. He may have said he doesn’t want to go anywhere. A buyout doesn’t save much considering Georgiev’s raise. So imo Georgiev is either dealt this week or he’s not traded and hank really is a goner.

like I said he looked miserable on the bench we were right behind him Sunday and he was absolutely miserable. Didn’t say a word to his teammates or Georgiev the whole game.

we will not keep Georgie past Monday unless it’s because we plan on keeping him as part of the tandem with shesty

I know many want to trade Strome. But unless Rangers can get a center back in another trade, I think it is a really bad idea to trade away one of the few that Rangers have. In 2017 both Stepan and Lindberg was gone, and replaced by Desharnais. It did not go well. Even if they had Hayes and Zibanejad. Of course not the only reason the season was bad, but it definitely did not help.

Like I said if Georgie is here past Monday and Hank just stays glued to the bench it’s going to mean he’s not here next year.

Sergachev I believe was the original target.

Fox is whole different story. That’s the unique card the Rangers have to play when the Fox, Hayes and Vessey types want to be Rangers. But yeah, why the higher price? He’s worth it but I guess there is some unwritten rule about stealing lol

"But defenseman Libor Hajek, Tampa Bay’s 2016 second-rounder chosen at 37th overall, was the player the Rangers targeted. He is the player they had to have in the deal. He is also the player that then-GM Steve Yzerman would not trade unless Miller, who scored a power-play goal in the first period Wednesday, was included the offer."

Ive sat behind them a few times when he’s been the backup and I’ve never seen him like that but I’m talking only a handful of times.

well, maybe it’s something or subjective. IDK

if this was baseball or a different town, the media would be killing him simply b/c we don’t know anything. There is no mic in his face asking him anything. He’s just sitting there taking up a roster spot. What the heck?

respectfully, I don’t take anything Larry Brooks prints seriously.

The top prospect was not Hajek and the Rangers were moving both their Captain and former First Round draft pick who is 217lbs,

Hajek was someone the rangers wanted in his draft year. You can choose to not like it, but this information has been circulated elsewhere too. Sergachev was never on the table.

Brooks' opinon pieces are worthless, and he doesn't have sources anymore, but here he's reporting about something after the fact, he doesn't just make up shit like that. So you can believe it or not but it's right there.

The only people who mentioned Sergachev as a trade target legitimately were people on this board speculating.

Yeah I do think the Toffoli trade helps us more on a potential return for Strome than Kreider.

I can’t see a scenario at this point where Strome returns less than a 1st.
They have to capitalize now. Strome is a guy they can live without. I would almost say he is very replaceable, but right now given our depth he is not immediately replaceable. He will be though. He does not play a complete game. He has lapses defensively and he is showing right now how vanilla he can be offensively. He has had great open looks recently and has not been able to bury them.

You dont win with guys like that unless that guy is a middle 6 player for you, more so on the 3rd line as a luxury of depth. That doesnt exist here but it can for an interested playoff team. He has shown he can be serviceable alongside talented players. Cash in now.

that’s a pretty bad job by Gordon then being the Captain was being traded along with 217lb former 1st Round draft choice Miller who on the cheap. He targeted a guy who is still on our backburner, the other is in Ottawa and we’re waiting on the prospect. Meanwhile Serg is playing for the Lightning.

I'm suspect that Strome is worth a 1st but if you can move him for a package similar to what LA just got for Toffoli, you have to do it.

Madden would be probably our 3rd/4th best forward prospect right now, and a 2nd is always good to have. If they get anything more than that, it's gravy

Strome is a pump and dump value guy, I just am not sure the team will trade him in the next week
