From the last thread, I can see McIlrath becoming a powerplay asset later in his career similar to Boychuk. He needs to improve his lateral movement and decision making first though.

We should be blowing up Sakick/Roy's, Benning's and Don Sweeney's phones trying to move some of our defensemen.

Nash is an NTC. Whether full or partial or modified they're moveable. Brassard and McDonagh have modified NTC's--again moveable.

Girardi is?---is he NMC or NTC or partial NTC? There's conflicting information on him. Anyway if he is NMC it's his last year of that and he'll then move on to NTC. If he's not NMC he's moveable.

Staal and Lundqvist are NMC's.

I dont believe Stepan's NTC has kicked in yet.

Girardi has a NMC right now, after next season it becomes a modified NTC.

Stepan NTC hasn't kicked in yet because he's still in his RFA years. Kicks in at start of 2017-2018 season.

McDonagh NTC kicks in starting in the upcoming season.

You guys are right on Stepan. His NTC begins in 2017-18. I took him out.

Land of no calls..
Moving Nash has to result in a 1st rounder coming back.

Or at the very least a high quality prospect. It'd behoove the Rangers to do whatever they can in terms of salary retention in order to get the highest return. Shedding his cap is nice and all, but it'd be far better to try and maximize his trade value. I'm sure some team would love him at $5M with 30+ goal bounce-back potential and a short term contractual commitment.

Nashville fans liked my Nash at 50% for Nystrom, Fiala and the 17th overall, but with the cap staying flat now that might not work. Maybe Wilson or Smith, but they're not a dump like Nystrom is.

McIlrath on the PP is a no go for me. He has a decent shot, but he needs to work on other parts of his game for him to be on PP. If he's there just as a trigger man, they'll swarm him once he gets the puck and cause issues

Wilson makes sense at his salary. And with the down year he had I could see them being okay moving him. He'd help fill a winger spot in NY too as he is a bigger body.

Wilson + Kamenev + 1st '16

For

Nash at 70%

Just an fyi for this thread, since I'm sure salary retention will be brought up a lot, you can only retain up to 50% of a contract.

I don't think they'll move Kamenev. He's the guy who should take over for Riberio. Fiala might actually be a guy the team could get, and it'd be nice to add another high-skill winger to the system.

If we are dealing Nash; I would prefer Fiala to Kamenev. High skilled winger with speed. Plus the fact that (in a vacuum at least) we already have 3 centers on the roster.

Nash @ 50% For Smith, Fiala and 17AO would be a great package. Esp if McAvoy is still around at 17.

Some might not like another "big name" but if the Rangers could get Stamkos that opens up trading Stepan for a big package, (PMD?. 1st rd pick? Etc). Also if we get Stamkos u sign Kreider and Miller to bridge deals and if they prove worth you give them their money after Kreider. Stamkos will be 3.5M more than Stepan but he clearly would help. We'd have a legit top line C (and top line period). and he's only 2 years older than Stepan, he could also replace what we lose from Yandle on the PP as well as could a potential PMD coming back in a trade. Youre not fixing the D outside of trading Staal or Girardi so u might as well give them less minutes and load up the offense. I'd absolutely take. Kreider-Stamkos-Nash, Miller-Brass-Zucc, Buch-Hayes with Fast and Lindberg cheap on the 4th line. Trading Stepan could only happen if we signed Stamkos obviously but it becomes doable cap wise even with ALL of Nash Staal and Girardi on the team.
