if Daneault, Byron and Leky are in our top 6 we are in deep trouble.
I love all three of them... as a 3rd line.

1) Drouin, Fleury, and a 2021 3rd for Laine: Jets get more flexible in cap space with Drouin's salary and add a young RD prospect with a pick. Habs get the goal scorer we need. Might work for both teams. Sign Laine for 6 years at $10M

2) Ikonen and 2021 2nd for Gusev: Knights can't take salary back and it looks like they can use a C/RW in the prospect pool. Sign Gusev for 2 years at $3M

3) Weise and a 4th for a 7th to anybody: Add another 4th if you have to.

Tatar - Danault - Gallagher
Drouin - Domi - Lehkonen
Poehling - Kotkaniemi - Byron/Suzuki
Cousins/Byron - Weal - Armia

We're clearly short a top-6 scoring winger with some size. A Lee would have looked good in Lehkonen's spot. I would have gone with a kid line as an exploitation line (Poehling - KK - Suzuki) and a smashing 4th line of Lehkonen - Weal - Byron or Lehkonen - Byron - Armia.

I don’t think Thompson will be a starter. I think he’s there to be the 13/14th foward

Right for the 2 others, but Danault is a good defensive 2C, you just have to put him with good wingers (Tatar-Gallagher).

I have exactly the same thinking.

Also, I would like to see :

PP :
Domi - Poehling - Weal
Weber - Petry

PP :
Tatar - KK - Gallagher
Drouin - Kulak

I really want to see Poehling in a more offensive role - similar to Ryan Kesler.

I think Weal should be inserted on a PP unit. He's an intelligent righty on the PP.

PK :
Danault - Leks/Armia
Weber - Chiarot

PK :
Cousins - Byron/Armia
Juulsen - Petry/Kulak

How can we copy and paste from cap friendly in this format?

You need to create an account on a upload image website (I used imgur.com). You can snap shot whatever picks you want and paste them into the site (Drag and drop window on new image). Then copy the direct link. Then use the image button on HF boards and past the link into that.

Took me a bit to figure it out but it's not that complicated. Not sure why HF boards forces you to do it this way vs just copy and paste pictures via pdf, jpg, etc.

I actually quite like this lineup. If Poehling needs a break at Center, we know Domi can slide in there and not miss a beat.

Knowing Julien and his "duo" mentality, plus the ridiculous amount of fringe players on this team, I'm sure Cousins is going to see time on the top-6 before the American thanksgiving.

Quote me on this.

I really hope Poehling and Suzuki can make the team. There certainly are openings for more offense. But if they're not ready I'm fine with them getting time in the A

Tatar - Danault - Gallagher (one of the better two way lines in the league)
Poehling - Domi - Lehkonen (let's see if Lehkonen can pick up where he left off with Shaw's replacement)
Drouin - Kotkaniemi - Suzuki (too many puck possession issues? perhaps. But I'd like to see if their hockey sense can make up for it)
Byron - Weal/Cousins - Armia (three 30 point players, a very solid 4th line)
Thompson

Same here. I can't remember if it's in this thread or Suzuki's that I've been saying he could surprise big time at camp. I had tentatively slated him as 4RW but I can see a case for 4C - otherwise it's clearly top 6 duties in Laval for him.

-Claude will like that he has well above average stickhandling ability in the D zone and during transitions as well, it's uncanny.
-The man can skate, don't care what people say about his straight line speed - his ability to turn on a dime goes up a notch almost every time he's in close with defenders, very elusive.
-His hand-eye coordination is through the roof, and that applies to faceoffs and zone entries where he's pressured to make a move. Should be able to wow the crowd at camp in Sept.
-I can't WAIT (!!!) to see how he handles contact in the NHL pre-season games. His default attitude is to shove his own back right to the defender's chest with momentum going his way, so that should work (a la Radulov) against average to smaller guys... but it won't fly with the Buffs, Charas and Hedmans of the league.

I'd like to make a trade with NYR since they won't be able to sign all their remaining RFA whitout trading someone, so I would target Kreider for a 2nd plus a prospect.

Tatar-Domi-Gallagher
Kreider-Kotkaniemi-Drouin
Lehkonen-Danault-Armia
Cousins-Weal-Byron
Thompson

AHL: Peca and Weise

As it stands, the roster looks like this

Drouin Domi Gallagher/Tatar
Byron/Lek Danault Gallagher/Tatar
Armia KK Lek/Byron
Cousins Thompson Weal

Scratches: Hudon, Peca, Weise, Varone
Rookies: Suzuki, Poehling

They need a top C and a sniper ideally because this doesn't look like a playoff team.

Chiarot Weber
Kulak Petry
Mete Juulsen
Reilly Folin

Scratches: Alzner

There's about 8 mil split between Alzner, Peca and Weise. Good thing is that Peca and Weise are gone next year. I don't know if Chiarot can be a top D.
