The D and extra forwards and extra dmen are identical to my list.

The forwards are a tough call.

I think that if CJ has the balls to put Poehling up with Domi then use him at center as he is a much better defensive player than Domi.

I think it is more likely to see Poehling with Weal and Cousins on the 4th line with the Finnish line reunited and Byron with Domi and Drouin.

We see it similarly for sure. I do think Poehling makes the team but hard to predict where he plays. I think this will fluctuate and we try him in several situations

Poehling should not be in the NHL, especially not as a winger, unless he has an AMAZING preseason.
McCarron has no contract and it would be sad if they signed him at this point.

I am 90% sure Poehling makes our 23 man roster and we try him in several situations throughout the season. Who cares about McCarron... if we sign him, he helps our AHL team. I don't think anybody thinks he cracks our NHL roster.

That is not how things work. We sent Alzner down last season so we certainly aren't burying Poehling for the sake of keeping McCarron.

I like Suzuki a lot but I think he plays less than 40 NHL games this year. Might play more than 9 but I think he plays a few pre-season games but starts in the AHL. He is not physically strong enough for the NHL yet.

Too much competition for Suzuki to crack our line-up IMO. Doubt he is suited to play 4th line and he has to outplay Danault, Domi, Kotkaniemi, Poehling, Weal at center and hard to say how the RW shapes out after Gallagher, and Armia cause guys like Tatar, Byron, Lehkonen, and Drouin can play both wings.

Can Suzuki play 2nd line RW? Outside chance I guess but with having two young centers, I don't think Julien tries this.

The only reason I have him there is because of the amount of right handed centers we have, plus I'm giving him optimism. If he can play at least the first 10 games with the big club, it'll be a plus for everyone. He'll need a Latendresse level camp that's for sure though.

One thing for sure though Drouin needs to prove he deserves a top six slot I wouldn't hand him anything. Another thing to note we have been dying for a talented sizable group at center for decades I'll be so pissed if we slot Poe on the wing particularly if it is just to keep a him up on a mediocre team MB couldn't improve talent wise through acquisition.

Physical strength will be a challenge for him IMO. If he didn't dominate the WJC, he is not going to dominate or perform in the NHL so quick. I think next season is a transition season for him and we give him a few games where he can evaluate the parts of the game he needs to work at.

He plays a soft style but his vision and play making are off the charts. He needs to be paired up with players like Ratcliffe IMO. I watched Suzuki very closely at the Memorial cup and the sample size I saw was similar to the WJC... great vision and play making ability but does not engage in the physical stuff. When the games get tight, less time and space affected his ability to produce. I think we are looking at a PP specialist in the future

Poehling will play center and if he starts on wing, it's not a horrible thing. Thomas was played at wing all year by the Blues last year. Circumstance is a big factor cause it's either Kotkaniemi or Poehling playing 3rd line center. We are not going to run with Danault, Kotkaneimi, Poehling as our top 3 centers cause this is not a rebuilding roster where we don't care about making the playoffs and we are willing to tolerate mistakes on the job.

I think Drouin has a good start to the season cause he comes in with a lot of energy based on how the last season ended. Pride means a lot for NHL players and last season is evidence for several players... Price, Weber, Domi, Tatar, Domi, Shaw to name a few. They all had question marks on them heading into the season

This is how I see it, but I believe Juulsen is 100000% a lock

Agreed. Juulsen has to play himself out of the line-up with very bad play. I think it's a battle against Juulsen and Folin and Juulsen to me takes a step forward this season. He plays a very physical game (Hits and Shot Blocking being his focus) so hopefully he stays away from injuries this season.

You might not like what you see

It's fine. I'm used to it. It's been bullshit all over the place for several years now and we always find a way to mess it up in Montreal. We're like the Ottawa Senators but with a past. Not much we can do about it.

What is ridiculous is the fact there are fans who will enjoy this bullshit and even ask for more.

You can call it BS but it's really just different perspectives and I think our Fan base is fragile based on how Galchenyuk went down.

Cousins / Weal / Lehkonen

Thompson

Mete / Weber
Chariot / Petry
Kulak / Juulsen

Reilly, Folin

* Alzner, Leskinen, Brook, Fleury, Ouellet, Olofsson sent to the AHL

Training camp battles?
- Lindgren vs Kinkaid
- Peca vs Cousins vs Weal vs Poehling vs Kotkaniemi
- Leskinen vs Reilly vs Kulak
- Folin vs Juulsen

Brutal...to think of it, we replaced Andrew Shaw grit and 19 goals with Nick Cousins. Jordie Benn with Ben Chiarot is a wash.

We didn’t get better but we got younger. Bergevin didn’t do much same team same results. Maybe we tanking this season for Alexis Lafreniere.

Or you just don't know hockey as well as you seem to think you do. Moving him to wing would be a dumb move.

Thomas was moved to wing. Are the Blue destroying his development? I think not. So yeah, you can use the "you don't know hockey" BS comment but you are running out of solid points to use so keep searching.

The narrative you are presenting is you know more than actual NHL coaches and any other fan who agrees with the coach, doesn't know hockey. Think about what you are saying armchair fan

We had to move Shaw at one point cause the RW side was getting cluttered. We moved him at high value based on what his value was since coming to the Habs. I think most are happy with that return. He could have very good seasons with the blackhawks but the Habs unloaded salary to make room for the future.

I don't believe we are tanking for AL. The only way I see us being a bottom 10 lottery pick is we have another season of injuries to key players. If this roster stays healthy, we will be in the 2nd/3rd and wild card mix.

This is all about our youth and if they can take steps forward. And before someone tries, NO!!!, our prospect pool is not the same as before. It's been decades since we had youth trending like this.

I think the wrinkle is that someone will be on IR to start the season. I expect both Suzuki and Poehling to start with the big team. Suzuki because of the lack of depth on RW. Since Juulsen does not need to be exposed to waivers I think if they come out of camp injury free he starts in the AHL and they go with 7 D to start. In all probability someone is on IR and Juulsen starts in mtl. Suzuki will get a look on the second/third line if he has a good camp. he won't be on the 4th, it is top 9 or AHL.

Tatar / Danault / Gallagher (This line starts together after the year they had last year. Top 2 lines interchangable no real no 1)
Domi / Kotkaniemi / Suzuki (If Kotkaniemi is not ready for 2nd line Then Domi at C and Poehling at LW on 3rd and Drouin up to line 2 LW)
Drouin / Poehling / Byron
Lehkonen
/ Weal / Armia

Thompson /Cousins

Mete / Weber
Chariot / Petry
Kulak / Folin

Reilly,
