Do you have examples of what they do during the breaks?
Are there still paid OEG shills monitoring this thread ? They'll explain how Rogers is better somehow.

I wont disagree with that. I was just saying that is what he did, which he could have not & paid the price. But thats not his MO when hes at the trough. Always has been. Why did he need to waste money on zinc siding, flooring, sky mezzanine?
I also heard they cheaped out on fixtures in the bathrooms and lights, but how in the hell does that effect anything?
The quality of the experience has nothing to do with them cheaping out on the building. I highly doubt the Florida arena that was built damn near 20 years earlier has better accessories.
It's all about the in game atmosphere that lacks in Edmonton. That has nothing to do with the building itself
Yep. I remember those days. I worked at Northlands and the boss I had (French guy names Gilbert) made sure that all food extra food was tossed. When one of the co workers suggested giving it to a local homeless shelter--he looked at her like she was nuts
I have no idea. I'll have to ask my buddy next time I see him.Do you have examples of what they do during the breaks?
Checked out Studio 99 last night, it was a cool experience. Lot's of interesting memorabilia on the wall and the buffet is pretty decent. Plus you can grab popcorn/cotton candy to take down to your seats and any drinks you don't finish they will give you to go as well. Having the radio show in their pre-game was a good idea. I asked if you could go and not have the buffet and the waitress didn't seem happy about my question lol. She said you can but they would seat you in a different area closer to the entrance/sort of out of the way. Doesn't really make sense to me would be pretty hard to move you once you're already sat down with drinks especially since every table was reserved.
Yes a bit expensive but not surprising since you are inside the building. I don't think I'd go back because of the cost but I would definitely recommend people try it once.

I was at my first game in the new arena several weeks ago now. In the main lobby area, they had a giant Oiler logo/Oil Drop (without the "OILERS" letters). People could get their photos underneath it. Does anyone here have a photo of it they could post? I'm thinking about an Oilers fan cave and I thought that would be cool to copy. I'd be grateful if anyone could get a pic of that and post it. Thanks!
Now that we are a few years into the building, what are your overall opinions? Just the overall feel, aesthetic, and usability. I've been to a few different rinks since Rogers has opened; Some old, some new. I think rogers missed the mark in some areas.
This 100%. The building has zero personality and is basically "bleh". And god only know about the reluctance to use replays. Its absolutely appalling that people watching at home get to see controversial plays that are replayed while those actually paying do not.
- Location is great, almost worth the switch alone
- Feels like a convention centre, no personality
- They have learned lessons > improved bathroom access, entry was better last year, club 99 is a place worth visiting for a drink between periods (or to hang out when the product on the ice is sucking)
- Have not replaced the community feel from my old section at the old barn, in part because the price has caused people to go to less games.
- Expected more room in seats, find them less wide (shoulder wise) than old barn. Moving to slightly wider aisle seats, see if there is a difference
- Moving to our 3rd set of seats, both of the prior two in the 2nd row of upper deck had major leaner issues
- My biggest complaint, they under utilize the screen for replays. Might be the worse part of going to a game.
- Showing my age, the music is super loud and it is hard to talk during commercial breaks and so forth.

As far as I know you can't just donate uneaten food. Health standards and all.

Yep. Anybody on this board for a longtime knows that there were paid people on this board, and other social media platforms talking the Oilers up solid. Some developers and business people that stand to benefit selectively too.
One other thing, I really like the iron foot mosaic. Can’t always see it well but think it is one area where they were trying to stretch and succeeded.
I also like the hall connecting the north and south gates (you walk past the casino, Starbucks, Pink Berry, etc). I like the banners and even the art installation by the community rink.
The north hall after that is pretty bland.
