I may be crazy but I thought Morris was rumored to be a candidate to join Rolston's staff as an assistant last year. Searched the forum and didn't see anything to back that but I may have missed it.

As someone who is biased because I worked for Mo in college, I would love the idea.

One of Mo's long time #1s is in Rochester already. George Roll is the head coach at Naz.

I always thought Mo got a raw deal when he was run out of Clarkson.

It sounds like Lombardi's giving Morris a chance to find work in the NHL ranks by letting Morris' contract run out. See this article:

Morris is back home in upstate New York and spoke with Lombardi Wednesday about his future.

“The way it was presented to me is that it’s a chance for me to look at potential NHL coaching opportunities,†Morris said. “Dean asked me if I’d like to coach in the NHL and I said obviously yes. Those opportunities have not come for me in the Kings organization.â€

The Monarchs finished with a franchise-low in losses with 19 this season during a 48-19-9 campaign in which the team won the Eastern Conference.

The No. 1 Monarchs lost to No. 8 Norfolk 3-1 in the first round. The Monarchs advanced to the Eastern Conference finals twice and lost in the first round five times. under Morris.

“I really don’t think this had anything to do with the playoffs,†Morris said. “They’ve never been the type of organization to gauge success on a playoff run. I think that’s the least of i.â€

Springfield, Massachusetts - The American Hockey League today announced that St. John’s IceCaps defenseman Will O'Neill has been suspended for one game as a consequence of a match penalty for cross-checking in Game #5 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday, May 31. Mark and his wife Cecily, a Family Court Judge, reside in Massena, New York and Manchester, New Hampshire. They are proud parents of four children, Michael, Emily, Leah and Kevin.

Massena is a loooong way from Buffalo and Rochester. But, probably a little closer than Manchester.

I hope he gets a shot as either an assistant in Buffalo or as the head coach in Rochester.
