Amerks Season Ends - 4-2 Loss To Wolves - Game #5 - Amerks.com - Sunday, May 4.

A pair of second-period power-play goals just 2:05 apart proved to be the difference maker as the Chicago Wolves erased a 2-1 deficit and claimed a 4-2 win over the Rochester Americans in Game #5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals at Allstate Arena. The Wolves win the best-of-five series 3-2 and eliminate the Amerks from the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.

Luke Adam (1+1) and Phil Varone (0+2) led the way offensively with two-point nights while Brayden Irwin also found the back of the net with his third goal of the series. Rookie defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen finished with an assist and Andrey Makarov, who appeared in all five playoff games for Rochester, closed out the postseason with 32 saves on 35 shots.

Dmitrij Jaskin paced Chicago with a goal and an assist while Shane Harper and Brent Regner each tallied for the second time of the series before Taylor Chorney netted the series-clinching goal with an empty-netter in the final minute of regulation. Reigning AHL Goalie of the Year Jake Allen made 21 saves in the win, cementing the Wolves’ second-round meeting against the three-time North Division champion Toronto Marlies. Wolves Advance To Western Conference Semifinals With Game #5 Triumph - Chicago Wolves.com - Sunday, May 4.

Rosemont, Illinois - The Chicago Wolves manufactured two power-play goals late in the second period and added an empty-net tally to rally for a 4-2 victory over Rochester in the decisive Game #5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena. Brent Regner and Dmitrij Jaskin delivered the tying and game-winning power-play goals, respectively, and goaltender Jake Allen (3-2) stopped 21 shots to earn the victory in the winner-take-all game. The second-seeded Wolves advance to host third-seeded Toronto in Game #1 of the Western Conference Semifinals at 7:30 pm CT on Friday, May 9, at Allstate Arena.

Flames' AHL franchise heading to Glens Falls - TheAHL.com - Monday, May 5.

Springfield, Massachusetts - Convening today in Chicago for its Spring Meeting, the AHL Board of Governors approved the relocation of the franchise owned by the NHL Calgary Flames from Abbotsford, BC to Glens Falls, NY. beginning with the 2014-15 season. The Flames’ AHL franchise will begin play this fall at the Glens Falls Civic Center, which had been home to the Adirondack Phantoms since 2009. The Phantoms had been previously granted approval to relocate to Allentown, PA, where they will begin play as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms beginning in 2014-15.

Since leaving Saint John in 2003, Flames put prospects in Lowell,Omaha, Moline/Davenport, Abbotsford & now Glens Falls. A circus moves less. And rest assured, the Flames putting their AHL franchise in Glens Falls is yet another temporary fix.

Glens Falls deserves a team.

They supported the Phantoms pretty well.

Plus, the more concentrated teams are, the lower travel costs are. That can be huge to the financial health of minor league teams.

Amerks Reflect On Seasons End As Players Go Home For The Summer - Amerks.com - Wednesday, May 7.

All good things must eventually come to an end - even for the Rochester Americans. Despite a whirlwind season and a miraculous late-season charge to even clinch a playoff position, players and coaches of the Amerks found themselves back at the arena not for another day of practice, but for end-of-season meetings and farewells.

When the Amerks dropped Game #5 in the best-of-five series last weekend against the Chicago Wolves, even with all the team had been through over the course of the season, it was all just part of the past; a past that included a trip to Switzerland for the Spengler Cup, an outdoor game hosted at Frontier Field and a Calder Cup Playoff berth that nearly wasn’t.

“It was quite a journey, and I think it says a lot about our players the way they stuck with it,†head coach Chadd Cassidy said. “It was a difficult year in a lot of ways with all the turnover and everything we went through. We certainly didn’t realize all of our goals, but we made some really good strides this year. We’re not satisfied with where we ended up, but I’m proud of the way the guys persisted throughout the year.â€

Oh, and for all the Blues fans who were ready to send Miller out of town on a rail and hand the job to their Lord and Savior Jake Allen, how's Allen's .879 playoff SV% marinating? Woof.

Oh, and for all the Blues fans who were ready to send Miller out of town on a rail and hand the job to their Lord and Savior Jake Allen, how's Allen's .879 playoff SV% marinating? Woof.

I never understood the hype with Allen. He is a good prospect but I dont see him as being much more then a middle of the road starter. He isn't a John Gibson or Vasilevski.

Even when you look at his numbers it's pretty average. Blues fans are getting way to ahead of themselves with this kid.
