This is where the non-competitive mess that was the first half of the Amerk season bites them in the ass. Instead of having the kids who are finishing their CHL seasons or coming in from the NCAA getting into a professional playoff setting, seeing what it takes as observers or forcing their way into a lineup to be contributors, they are done in a week too. Meh. Fix that mess Tim.

Why are AHL highlights so hard to come by? Why can't we watch Justin Bailey emerging and scoring 2 goals against Syracuse? It's not like these games are taking place in northern Manitoba, it's right down the damn Thruway.

Home teams traditionally post the game highlights to YT is all. You can also just use AHL Live and sort by team.

http://www.amerks.com/article/AMERKS SIGN ROCHESTER NATIVE MATT LANE

The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Matt Lane to an American Hockey League contract for the 2016-17 season.

Lane, 21, a Rochester native, recently completed his senior season at Boston University, where he recorded a career-high 28 points (14+14) along with 14 penalty minutes in 39 games. During the 2014-15 campaign, Lane registered 18 points (8+10) in 41 games to help BU to an appearance in the NCAA National Championship game. In 152 career games with BU, the 5-foot-10, 184-pound Lane collected 69 points (33+36) and 34 penalty minutes.

Prior to his college career, Lane spent two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program and helped guide Team USA to the gold medal in the 2012 Under-18 World Championship.

Was wondering if Lane would get picked up. They probably saw a lot of him while scouting Eichel (and Rodrigues/Hohmann/O'Connor/etc.) last year, and of course the local connection as well. Could be a useful minor leaguer. Was hoping for more out of Lane for his college career, but he was serviceable this year so there's that.

Who actually runs the Amerks as its GM? It shouldn't be TM alone with some stiff doing the office admin work in Roch.

It's the one thing you can criticize Murray for, your AHL team should be a major priority, the Calder Cup playoffs are invaluable in the development of prospects. Missing out both years under TM is pretty bad. Much more attention needs to be paid to putting together a winning team down there.

I don't know about that.

The most AHL playoff games amongst Chicago's skaters is Duncan Keith at 14.

Crawford played 25 AHL playoff games.

In today's game, most high impact guys don't spend a lot of time in the AHL and learning to win there isn't a prerequisite to winning in the NHL.

But, it would be nice for Amerks fans.

Hmm - good point. Vast majority of stars spend little time in the AHL or none at all. Depth players do needing the development and Euros develop in their home countries pro leagues. If a guy is 3 years in the AHL it's pretty predictive that player isn't going to be more than a depth player or injury call up material.

Bailey's ready to graduate, big years next year for Baptiste,Rodrigues,Carrier,Dupy in Roch.

That's irrelevant. But you're right. It doesn't mean much for development. But winning should be a priority at every level of the organization.

The original point is totally right. The Amerks need their own GM. Jody Gage is the obvious guy for the job. Ridiculous that no one oversees them.

Game Recap - Amerks Lose 3-1 To B-Sens - Friday, April 8 - Amerks.com

The Binghamton Senators scored three times in the opening period and rode a 38-save effort from goaltender Chris Driedger to defeat the Rochester Americans by a 3-1 count Friday at The Blue Cross Arena. The loss drops the Amerks record to 33-35-2-1 with only five games remaining in the regular season.

Rookie forward Jean Dupuy scored the lone goal for Rochester with Nick Baptiste and newcomer Brendan Guhle providing the assists. Guhle, reassigned to Rochester earlier in the week from the Prince Albert Raiders, was one of two Amerks making their pro debuts tonight as forward Giorgio Estephan also saw time in his first pro game after completing his fourth season in the Western Hockey League with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Linus Ullmark made 23 saves in the loss for Rochester.

Binghamton was led by two points each from Danny Hobbs (1+1) and Jerome Leduc (1+1) while three other former Amerks recorded points in the win for the Senators, including Nick Tuzzolino (1+0), Phil Varone (0+1) and Jason Akeson (0+1).

Game Recap - Amerks Lose In Overtime To Monsters - Saturday, April 9 - Amerks.com

The Rochester Americans and Lake Erie Monsters needed more than regulation time to open the first leg of their home-and-home series, but it was the Monsters prevailing just 1:59 into overtime as Zach Werenski’s first professional goal lifted the visitors to a 4-3 win Saturday at The Blue Cross Arena. The Amerks gain a point in the loss and fall to 33-35-3-1 on the season heading into Sunday’s rematch with Lake Erie in Cleveland.

Rochester led 3-1 early in the second period, but Lake Erie overcame the deficit with a pair of goals from Daniel Zaar before Werenski completed the comeback less than two minutes into the bonus session to give the Monsters the win.

Eric O’Dell and Nick Baptiste both finished with a goal and an assist while newcomer Brendan Guhle notched two assists for the first multi-point outing of his young pro career.
Justin Bailey rounded out the scoring with his 20th goal of the season, becoming the third different Amerk to reach the mark this season.
Back from a recent call-up with the Buffalo Sabres, goaltender Nathan Lieuwen earned his first start since March 13, stopping 29 of 33 shots he faced.
Trent Vogelhuber added the fourth goal for the Monsters behind a 28-save effort from Anton Forsberg.
