Unfortunate, as I would love to accelerate the process with
1 OHL
1 AHL
2021-22 NHL.

Have always hated that OHL- NHL agreement.

It's a CHL agreement, and one that is kind of vital to the health of the CHL. That's a lot of revenue lost due to lower quality competition, and it also hinders the development of the non-elite prospects.

At best they may introduce an exception for 1st round players (like Marner), which means Robertson wouldn't be able to jump early anyways.

He also needs a lot of physical maturity before he's ready for the pro leagues, so even if the Leafs could put him in the AHL early, they probably would keep him in the OHL for two more years to physically mature.

As a CHL follower, it's hardly vital to the CHL. Obviously it benefits them, but it's hardly a life or death situation.
One could argue its bad for the OHL to have a 20 year old giant(Barzeau like) playing against a 16 year old shrimp.
