Stupid Benning.. all his fault he retired. Should’ve convinced him to not think about his family and play instead.. BENNING!!

On the other hand, news reports about the announcement talk of the recapture penalties that will be incurred, and Luongo's open letter to the Florida fans making the announcement doesn't say he's injured and can't play, just that it takes too much time and he's not prepared to continue to make the commitment to prepare to play that had been necessary since his hip surgery a couple of years ago.

Yeah. It's weird. I don't really get why they are making that assumption.

Edit: nvm. Didn't see this from Mckenzie.

Hell
Never forget if it weren't for his OT save on Sharp the Canucks would've been reverse swept in 2011 instead of going on a run.

Can Luongo retire in spirit but not hand in his official retirement papers?

I'm pretty sure he can which could be the case. If he isn't medically cleared to play he could go on LTIR.

But from a contractual perspective, it's like telling your boss you'll be retiring and then going on sick leave.

Congrats to Bobby Lu!

Only question is what sweater does he wear into the hall? Gotta think it should be Vancouver's.
His heart was always in Florida and he'll probably stick around in Florida with the Panthers organization after his retirement. He's not quite in the same realm as the twins imo.

He’s moving into a new house in July in the Florida area and has already said he hopes to work within the Panthers organization.

If he goes into the HHOF, he’ll be going in as a Panther.

Unfortunately it probably won't stop Benning going after him. If anything it will prevent them from signing more depth.
Why do we need more depth? No one is injured right now and the depth looks good? I'm happy with how the depth looks now and am confident the problem has been fixed.
