I don't get to do this a lot haha. Thought I'd add some stats to get the discussions going. If we end up trading him, I hope we don't get fleeced, with other GMs knowing we have to shed some cap

Funny how for Stepan his low goal scoring totals relative to his salary people don't seem to mind so much.
1. The team is not constructed around Stepan being the most important forward.
2. Stepan is taking up $7.8 of cap space and over $8 for the next two years.
3. Stepan is not being counted on being the team's top goal scorer.

From the what have you done for me lately column

In 45 games his season he has 12 goals, 2 of which are empty net

5 goals in 19 playoff games last year

= Last 64 games, 17 goals, 15 non empty net goals,

His last 65 games put him at about ~19 non empty net goals prorated over 82 games.

It is not wishful thinking, but it is based on some conversations in the previous thread, coupled with the rumours of the cap going down which could force us to move him

Yes but I think it is more than a bit premature at this point. He is not going anywhere in 2 weeks. I think they try moving him after the season regardless if the cap was going down up or staying the same.

Hi.

As it's been said many times, Nash has scored many goals in the regular season, but he doesn't score important goals in the playoffs. You are providing evidence [i.e. Rick Nash has scored a lot of goals in the regular season] to argue with Rick Nash's scoring in the playoffs [i.e. What people are concerned about].

Yeah, that seems like a fair sample size.

LOL.... Those stats are simply not good enough !!! I want to see his... hit the goalie in the chest stats , LMAO , or blocked by rushing defender stats and the snaps the 40 foot shot off and drifts into a non busy corner or back to the bench stats . Those are worth knowing.... :)

Good Work there Amazing Kreiderman !!!

Yeah, why stop there lets go back and count the goals he scored for the BJ's. Keep on living in the past.

He has clearly regressed after last years playoff and this season. Whether it be through injury or whatever, fact is we're still not getting our monies worth.

He spent a lot if time compiling the consensus on Rick Nash [i.e. He scores a lot in the regular season] to argue against what people don't like about Rick Nash [i.e. That he doesn't score in the playoffs].

On a side note, you can see all the things you mentioned from April to the end of the playoffs every year.

That's the problem with this team, too many players who don't even live up to their salaries. If you're going to win a cup, players have to exceed their salaries and show their contracts are underrated.

NYR missed their chances, got very far too many times, contracts inevitably got bumped and now there's a bunch of overrated contracts instead, that some players can't possibly live up to. Especially on defense.

Then you have guys like two-way winger Nash, scoring 20-25 goals for $8m. That doesn't help, although that contract is an old "bad franchise overpaying to keep a good player" kind of contract.

Yeah, that seems like a fair sample size.

I phrased it, what have you done for me lately?

But it's his last 65 NHL games, that is almost a whole season worth

His last 82 games, add 5 more goals (did not even look to see if they were empty netters)

24 goals in his last 82 games.
