Both for AA and i would be fine with it.Byron or Lehky for AA
Both for AA and i would be fine with it.Byron or Lehky for AA
I just put in to the Habs, now add in to the Wings and the DevilsTo Edmonton:
Byron (via MTL)
Wood (via NJD)
AA (via DET)
To NJD:
Whatever makes it work
To MTL:
Whatever makes it work---- Puljujarvi
To DET:
Whatever makes it work
Edmonton can then score on every penalty kill by creating a 4-0 breakaway with the fastest PK the world has ever seen. Byron-Wood-AA-McDavid. Boom. 12 Stanley Cups in a row.
But in all seriousness... what is Detroit really looking for? Who (for example - even if unavailable) would be an acceptable realistic return?
hes the type player imo that needs the right coach , center , dmen . in the right enviroment he could become a star . and if im a gm with that condition ide easily trade a late 1st for aa because i want those quick strike wheels on a guy thats also strong enough to bull through dmen . put him on sids wing with letang on the unit and sully coaching and look outHe interests me, but the attitude seems to be hit or miss on the guy.
So you’re expecting Sergachev?
Good luck with that.
I'm still wondering why Edmonton would trade RNH for AA
RNH is a 50 point centre and AA is a 30 point winger
There is nothing the Red Wings could add to make the Oilers better now
I prefer actual production to win hockey games over mythical mathNo doubt RNH is better than AA and there's nothing 'reasonable' the Wings could add to make Edmonton better this year. But really? AA is a 3o-point player based on 12 game slump? Over his career he's a 42-point player. Last year he had 54 points. He could be a steady 50+ point winger for several more years. His speed is a constant threat and he has good hands.
Detroit still lacks a true #2C, Doubt Yzerman would deal AA to Edmonton without RNH coming back in the deal. Pretty sure if it were Holland making the deal that's what he'd want in return.
He interests me, but the attitude seems to be hit or miss on the guy.
Like i stated before, Detroit already has a Nick Bjugstad in their system named Michael Rasmussen. And why would Detroit want Jarry? When we already have tons of goalie prospects within our system. This makes absolutely no sense for us.I could see something like Bjugstad+Jarry/CDS for AA+some equalizer.
No reason to pay anyone to take a salary we don't need to get rid of.
I'd definitely consider that.Dipieteo + Madden
young goalie prospect with starting potential
young center prospect trending well for his draft position, definitely top6 C potential
might be overpayment for Athanasiou but its an idea

If Yzerman is trading him, then he is trading him to significantly better the future of the team. Yzerman isn't going to shop him because of some random spontaneous knee jerk reaction, or because he thinks he needs to trade him just for the sake of childish funsies.
From a team need standpoint,
Wings need: young top 2 centers, a young top pairing dman, maybe a #1 future star goalie (like a Vasilevskiy), or some really worthy draft picks.
Wings do not need: bottom 4 dmen, wingers, bottom 2 centers, or any aging players no matter the position/skill level.
Basically the ideal trade partner is a team wanting to improve their team speed and scoring now and are willing to mortgage top picks/prospects/young players from their future.
As for a specific trade proposal to add to the discussion, I don't know what teams out there are shopping, what their assets are and what they're willing to pay. It does seem Steve Yzerman is good at trading and I have no doubts he will get a very nice return for Athanasiou if he is, in fact, listening to trade offers for him.
Keep in mind, Jonathan Drouin only had career best 21 goals and was a -13 (albeit younger) when Steve Yzerman traded him for Mikhail Sergachev.
This is the right idea. If not picks, then a collection of interesting prospects for AA. Or one very good prospect.Dipieteo + Madden

As we've seen in the past fan bases tend to overrate their players. It will be a change of scenery swap or a combination of picks. Wings fans claiming guys like Pulujarvi, Lehkonen, Fiala isn't fair are probably expecting too much. A couple 2nds could probably get it done.
AA for Lehkonen and a 2nd would be more than fair value for a team valuing young assets
Detroit has no use for Lehkonen, He's a 3rd line PK specialist. We've enough of them in our system now.As we've seen in the past fan bases tend to overrate their players. So a young top 6 center, you g top pairing dman or a stud goalie prospect. Ok then, That's unrealisticIf Yzerman is trading him, then he is trading him to significantly better the future of the team.
