Pretty sure you cannot change plans mid flight due to customs. They would have had to carry on to MSP or return to YWG.

They would have already cleared customs (pre-cleared)

Not worried about them flying tomorrow, it’s a one hour flight. I think they will be just fine. Not even changing time zones. Being back home tonight means they likely sleep better.

With all the bad weather, most of the hotels would be filled and it is unlikely the Jets could find one with enough empty rooms.

It sucks, but, we can deal with it.

Room would already booked up till end of game 4 it's putting an extra night or two on the end

That would be the owners plane. The team doesn't travel on that. Where would you put all the equipment? You could proabably carry half the team though.
