It's not about his top speed. It's his first steps. If he can get quicker, without compromising the rest of his elite skating, then he will be fine. Reinhart was able to become quicker years after getting drafted. It's possible.
I was commenting to the person I quoted that said his top speed is below average. I do agree that he needs to work on his burst which I doubt he ever put much work into as his lateral ability is top notch

I think he will work on it. I'm not sure on the practice regimen here, what's the best way to approach it etc.

Didn't Peterka say he focuses on his skating, while he already had great skating? That's the attitude i'm talking about, and i'm sure Dahlin will work on his skating, and hopefully through that process he realizes untapped potential.

His top speed is fine, he showed it when he went behind the net and turned on the jets to transition up ice. He appears slow as he's like Eichel in that he prefers to slow the pace to open up passing lanes
That makes sense for offense but it happens on defense all the time. He gets beat once or twice a game and not by some elite skater. Forwards skate around him too often for it to go unnoticed. Its fine sure…i guess but theres a lot of room for improvement

He's going to score 50+ points on this team...and people are going to hate on the lowlights, and ignore the defensive plays he makes the basic charts don't show. The Sabres haven't had a better zone exit specialist since Campbell.

Honestly can see him put up 60 points this year
