I don't really get the team. They look like they have talent on paper, but they're absolutely terrible on the actual ice.

Eichel had a zero effort play that directly led to the first goal, and then he barked at Dahlin over it.

Trade Hall and Staal at the deadline to recoup assets.
Trade Eichel, Reinhart and Ristolainen in the offseason, and make sure you're getting back veteran roster players whom Buffalo's management has spoken to before the trade and made sure that those vets want to be there and mentor a scorched earth team.
Keep Cozens and Olofsson because they don't have the stink on them yet.
Keep Skinner because you have to, and keep Mittelstadt because you may as well with his current value.
Have a long heart-to-heart with Dahlin, and seriously come to an understanding about whether or not he is committed long-term to Buffalo. If he has any serious doubts or any type of a timeline for when he'd want out of Buffalo by, then trade him too.

Seriously, how many young guys have come in and out of that franchise and got poisoned? Several teams have torn it down and rebuilt since BUF started tanking in earnest in 2013.

Man when Dahlin was first drafted by the Sabres and 3 years later you were told he is not really that good would you believe it?

Well yeah, because it is the Sabres, but even he seemed too good to screw up.

We can only trade Reinhart’s RFA rights. The only thing the Sabres can do is a sign and trade, or if an agreement can be worked out beforehand with the team that acquires him.

The problem is that Krueger has neutered his offensive game. He has to care more about stopping goals (aside from on the PP) than trying to make them happen.

Like imagine seeing what Makar can do, and then be like “nah dude. Stop trying to score or set up goals.” Dahlin constantly rushes the puck up and then just stops skating around centre ice and looks to pass off. Look on YouTube at his highlights. They’re all from his rookie year

There were people who thought he had decent bust potential. The criticisms were that he plays a pretty soft game and his skating is actually somewhat overrated.
