I think it also possibly unlocks Raymond who is at his best when he has the puck. He needs his own line to drive.
raymond being able to learn from dbc and kane would make him pretty unbelievable. He has (mostly) already learned that he needs to shoot more and he has. He is more physical too (even without the bench hit) so he is learning to fight for his space more. Couple that with some elite players teaching him and growing his already high hockey iq, could get dirty, fast.

Kane was jerked around by Blackhawks management for years always trading away anyone he had chemistry with it makes sense he wants to play with former linemates.

Rangers better chance to win now and he has said he isn't interested in going to a rebuilding team.

As a Blackhawk fan it just seems wrong picturing him a Red Wing

Wings for multiple years could make sense. Yzerman has zero problems spending the remaining cap space and shuffling guys through the press box. We already do it on defense, and should have no problem moving a depth piece if needed.

I can see Kane on Colorado and it's scary, so I could see him wanting to go there. New York makes sense for familiarity, but also maybe he doesn't want to run it back on something that didn't work out. I don't expect the Wings to get him but it wouldn't be completely absurd.

Who woulda thought Chris Chelios, traded to Detroit (at his demand) in 1999 at age 37 would go on to play another decade for the Red Wings.

Wonder how well he knows some players personally? Larkin,Copp,Compher and Debrincat are from Michigan and though Kane was born in Buffalo he came to Detroit to live with Pat Verbeek to play hockey in Michigan.

Detroit has the cap space, rumors of him wanting to play with Debrincat on the top line which slot Raymond down, another PP specialist. Gives the Wings a ton of flexibility at all positions in players to spare come the Injuys.

For people saying he only wants to goto a contender, Patrick Kane on the Wings very well may be a dark house contender. It's a new season and half a new team,

He has to be licking his chops to slide onto that line. Debrincat is leading the league in scoring, and Larkin is one of the few Cs who gains the zone at will. It’s much more than that though…

This cannot be overstated enough. When you “think the game” at such a high rate like Kane does, 99% of the time your own linemates can’t keep up with what you’re thinking IN REAL TIME. Physical speed is only half of that equation for Kane. Debrincat processes, and thinks the game at that same level, and he does it with speed. That’s what made them so good together. It really is a huge advantage, and it’s a little rare for two wingers to have this together.

I’m actually a little surprised how nicely Larkin is doing the same with Debrincat right now. Maybe he’s just been stuck in a place who hasn’t had a player to bring out those skills. Who knows, but it’s looking really good right now.

That’s why Kane is so interested in Detroit more than people would think. Now, Detroit has to want him enough to meet his salary demands too, as well as accepting his medicals, but it cannot be overstated, what an advantage it is, for Kane to know there’s a player there, who thinks the game at the same level as he does, and can also do it, at the same speed.

It can get very frustrating for a player with those skills, not to have someone on his line/team who can keep up with him in this regard. He doesn’t have to worry about that if he signs in Detroit. It’s not to say there’s nobody in Buffalo that can’t happen with, but he knows there’s one in Detroit..
Processing the game too fast for many line mates…. Makes me think of the issue Crosby had earlier on. Wasn’t just anybody that could play with him

1.22M - COL cap space (LTIR giving up more?)
1.57M - NYR cap space (Cuylle down)
1.60M - DAL cap space (Johnston down)
4.90M - DET cap space (Berggren down)
9.00M - BUF cap space

COL, DAL and NYR can't compete with money, but they are better contenders.

Buffalo can throw insane money, if they like to. Kane could still avoid them.

Detroit cap space it's just realistic. 4.0-4.5M for Patty Kane. Sign me in.

Not sure about the COL capspace. Is there only 1.2M or could there be more thanks to LTIR ?

Buffalo won’t need to - he’s from here. Either that is a draw or it’s not - if it is a draw money won’t be an issue.

Kane's going to Buffalo on a 1-yr $4.5M 'show-me" deal. Good amount of history with both Adams & Granato, slots into the top-6 w very good potential for lots of PP time & he gets to play at home.

Come December:

Greenway-Thompson-Cozens
Skinner-Mittelstadt-Kane
JJP-Krebs-Quinn
Girgensons-Jost-Tuch
X. KO, Olofsson

Dahlin-Samuelsson
Power-Jokiharju
Clifton-Johnson
X. Bryson

Granato doesn't employ a traditional "4th line".

The Girgs-KO line has been a possession line that drives into the offensive zone - Tuch fits that bill VERY well and would add the finish Jost & Girgs struggle with occasionally.

Maybe, but with Buffalo looking iffy at best to make the playoffs I think that hurts.
