I hope the Pirates scouted the cubs and figured out a way to get Bonifacio out.

He's come down to earth considerably since his hot start. Shouldn't be too big of a problem this series.

In May he hit a robust .217 and got on base at a pretty bad .257 clip. was 2 for 4 in SB attempts. And in the first part of this month he's bounce back to the middle... .269/.321 and 1 for 2 in SB attempts.

According to Peter Gammons, the A's would have selected Tucker with the next pick if we didn't take him where we did. I haven't looked into the draft at all since I've been traveling, and the consensus seems to be it wasn't great, but one thing I do like is the emphasis on position players with several top picks.

Polanco is in uniform in the Indianapolis dugout according to Will Flemming.

Good to see Marte making solid contact tonight. It sounds like Walker might be out for more than just a day or two, so it would be nice to have the good version of Marte for a while.

By far Morton's best start of the year. He was cruising, and should be left in the game until at least the Cubs have another baserunner. Bullpen has been used a ton and will continue to be used a ton... might as well at least try for 8 or 9 from Morton tonight.

So stupid for Hurdle to not put Morton in for the 8th. Bullpen has the most innings in the mlb by far so anytime Hurdle can get a starter to the 8th he should. I really disagree with most of Hurdle's management decisions. I think his situational awarness is quite poor.

Yeah, Chuck's pitch count is low enough that going 8 shouldn't be a concern at all.

edit: Pirates doing their best to end any doubts about this game in the 8th. Solo home run by Davis and doubles by Pedro & Marte to open things up, and then Mercer gets on thanks to an error.

I guess Melancon throws about 6-10 pitches every time anyways, so not really a big deal, but now that this is broken open, taking Morton out looks sillier.

Polanco better be in Pittsburgh tomorrow. No more excuses at all, and we need to keep winning games to stay viable.

Yeah, they have to bring him up, i'm thinking once they found out about Walker NH had Polanco scratched to call him up tomorrow.

I'd bat Polanco 2nd and leave Harrison in leadoff.

I'm excited for tonight's game, hopefully it turns out like Cole's first game.

I was looking at the pirates lifetime stats against Wood, Pirates have some terrible numbers against Wood.

Pedro 1 for 18

Marte 3 for 16

Cutch 2 for 20(this is the most surprising considering Cutch usually kills lefties)

Gaby 1 for 15
